yeah with this attitude I imagine it will not be difficult to stay out of any table :D

superbirra,

yeah but the point is why bother? :) especially if I wouldn’t notice differences…

superbirra,

mmmh, I bet I will not notice any difference also if I don’t do shit and keep whatever is working until the day I’ll have to switch because my distro drops the packages 🤷🏼

superbirra, (edited )

sorry, my rhetorical question was obviously intended as why I should bother. I don’t see any value in stopping you doing whatever you think is better for you, in fact it is exactly what annoys me the most :)

superbirra,

yes!

superbirra,

well, everything which I use runs well on xorg, and I’d need to change relevant parts of my daily stack in order to use wayland sooo … :)

superbirra,

except they use it, and they’re on lemmy. Zealotry doesn’t lead to anything good

superbirra,

add 2/3 potatoes

superbirra,
  1. silly strawman
  2. silly silly exaggerated strawman

too bad

you simply don’t know what you’re talking about and tbh it looks like you’re just in need of circlejerk fella. Sorry, I am not

Is Ubuntu deserving the hate? (lemmy.ml)

Long story short, I have a desktop with Fedora, lovely, fast, sleek and surprisingly reliable for a near rolling distro (it failed me only once back around Fedora 34 or something where it nuked Grub). Tried to install on a 2012 i7 MacBook Air… what a slog!!! Surprisingly Ubuntu runs very smooth on it. I have been bothering all...

superbirra,

or, you know, use testing or sid. Or just stop lamenting for old packages and just enjoy stability while making something productive :)

How to pull rocks out of pipe in the ground?

My mom has a hole in the ground that she puts her clothes drying hanger in. Like this. The hole in the ground is a 2" or so pipe, set in concrete. The pipe has filled with gravel. Anyone have a tip on getting the rocks out? I can only get so many out using my fingers and then trying to use a set of chopsticks.

superbirra,

when he claimed it was?

superbirra,

If OP is in the US – which I assume he is, from the inch measurement

eh, they could live as well in Liberia or Myanmar

superbirra,

a terminal is the ultimate gui for a lot of things especially w/ ncurses mouse support. You can open N terms and easily compose a dashboard which is exactly tailored to what you’re doing at the moment. A simple oneliner often solves a problem for which a gui simply does not exist / isn’t powerful enough. Terminal is the ultimate gui ftw from the space yay!

superbirra,

eh?

superbirra,

debian repos are ok w/o using all this shit

I feel like breaking my windows install was a rite of passage

Lately ive noticed that i was wanting to do certain things on Windows that just seemed much easier and more intuitive on Linux, based in the OS specific solutions i would see to problems i encountered. And i was more frequently using software where Windows support seemed like an after thought....

superbirra,

I mean, even my mother who runs kde 5 has a better desktop than the sad one this silly wannabe post. lol

superbirra,

the threat model is exactly the same for those two scenarios, bear with it and focus on something else :)
