t3rmit3,

To be fair, they have a very good knowledge of what apartheid states (like Israel) look and act like.

Recognizing that Israel has moved from the “regular” oppression and killing of their sub-citizen population into full-on genocide is something that much of the rest of the world seems to be having trouble with.

China cracks down on negativity over economy in bid to boost confidence amid record high youth unemployment and struggling property sector (www.theguardian.com)

This month the Weibo account Weibo Finance, which has more than 1.5 million followers, issued an instruction against posting any comments “that bad-mouth the economy”. The post appears to have since been deleted. Bloomberg reported that several other finance influencers had been told by Weibo to “avoid crossing red...

It’s so hilarious seeing them just plain state that people aren’t allowed to talk about normal-ass stuff if the government doesn’t like it, and then seeing people online who try to defend them.

Fuck Lenin for turning a philosophy of freedom and cooperation and consensus into just another tool of State/authoritarian power.

No, you’re just scared of what it would actually look like. Lots of supposed Communists who are scared of the whole “stateless” part meaning they can’t finagle their way into power, or who just want the revolution as a vehicle to change who is in power (i.e. them).

You continuously link to conspiracy sites and random parties social media posts. Your evidence is a joke.

Show me an actual source from an organization that works in Gaza, saying the numbers are falsified, not another Israel apologist cooking numbers on Twitter.

You make a claim, that the Health Ministry is including the Al-Shifa numbers in their data currently, without citation, and use that claim to extrapolate that any numbers must all be false.

And again, your only argument is, “it’s Hamas and you’re eating it up!”.

Israel has released plenty of numbers of persons killed throughout the conflict, both on their and on Hamas’ sides.

The top one on that list is a comment condemning Israel, and the mods removed it. Several others, too.

It’s not censorship when they’re removing posts by both sides.

It mostly looks like the same 2-3 trolls posting inflammatory content that is getting removed.

t3rmit3,

Palestinians did spend the supplies they received on civil projects, but Israel (and Netanyahu in particular) has been getting a lot of that money sent to Hamas in order to prevent the Palestinian National Authority from gaining support in Gaza.

So don’t blame Palestinians, who have no say in how that aid gets distributed, blame Hamas and it’s backers like Israel.

t3rmit3,

Good thing that basically every other action you could do falls between “do nothing”, and “commit ethnic cleansing”, so they’ve got a lot to choose from!

Too bad they decided to go with the ethnic cleansing instead.

t3rmit3,

There are no downvotes on Beehaw.

t3rmit3, (edited )

Are you under the impression that the Palestinians invaded Israeli lands in 1948, killing thousands of them? Or that it’s Palestinians who put Israelis in an open-air prison and deny them essential supplies? Or that it’s Palestinians who regularly form mobs to run Israelis out of their homes before bulldozing them to build new settlements?

Because if so, your comment would make sense.

t3rmit3,

The IDF are terrorists who target civilians with vague claims, that they do not allow anyone to review, that their bombs are totally definitely absolutely hitting Hamas and not just civilians.

But also, police are just the internal enforcers of a government’s power. And Israel exerts de facto control over the West Bank and Gaza, so it’s perfectly accurate to call the IDF’s actions there ‘policing’.

t3rmit3,

A doctor carried the small limp body of a dead boy in a tracksuit and placed him in a corner, arms splayed across the blood-smeared tile. On the floor nearby, surrounded by discarded bandages and rubber gloves, lay a wounded boy and girl, their limbs tangled with the stands holding IV drips in their arms.

Two young girls were being treated, still covered in dust from the collapse of the house that had buried their family.

“My parents are under the rubble,” sobbed one. “I want my mum, I want my mum, I want my family.”

If you’re not furious, you’re not paying attention.

t3rmit3,

extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank must stop

He’s talking about settlers attacking Palestinians.

t3rmit3,

Yeah, no evidence of anything, just images of the massacre. But those could really depict anything!

lmao

t3rmit3, (edited )

Thank you for demonstrating my point.

It’s very funny to me that you keep bringing up Gaza like it’s some counterpoint to what I’m saying, when all you’re doing is pointing out another bloodthirsty regime’s crimes. Do you think that Israel’s government being evil is somehow a rebuttal to China’s government being evil?

t3rmit3, (edited )

According to who?

According to Tibetans.

Regardless, this is the same Tibetan government that…

Yawn. Nothing but whataboutism from you, huh? “Who cares if China did multiple genocides and illegal annexations and disappears people who protest the government, the Tibetan government is also bad, so China should be allowed to ethnic cleanse them!”

No government is good, but other humans being bad isn’t an excuse to go and be bad as well. And let’s not pretend that China gives a crap about anything except expansion of their resources and influence. You’re not impressing anyone by defending a genocidal regime, it just comes off as being incapable of actually critically assessing your own side. You’re no different than the MAGA crowd who think America can do no wrong.

t3rmit3, (edited )

What’s saddest about this is that it took me literally 3 minutes to find images of tanks in Tiananmen running over student barricades, and blood streaks left on the ground afterwards, and bodies on the ground, but you don’t actually care at all, you’ll just cover your ears and push your narrative. You’re no better than people downplaying what Israel and America do, but you are so wrapped up in the righteousness of your ML rhetoric that you’ll just deny it and make up excuses for your side doing the same stuff.

t3rmit3,

Wow, it’s absolutely hilarious that you’re trying to reclaim that term. Good luck! xD

Gaza’s Largest Hospitals Close, Premature Babies Taken Out of Incubators, Israeli Forces Reportedly Entered Hospitals and Fired at Patients (www.democracynow.org)

t3rmit3,

He doesn’t give a shit about the hostages, he wants to expel Palestinians from north Gaza, if not all of it. He will bomb all the tunnels where they’re being held, then blame Hamas for “putting them in the way of the bombs”.

Palestine Children’s Relief Fund: Israel Is Threatening to Bomb Gaza’s Only Pediatric Cancer Unit --- [video, 33 min + transcript] (www.democracynow.org)

As the U.N. secretary-general repeats his call for an immediate ceasefire, the death toll in Gaza has topped 10,000, including 4,000 children. We speak to an American doctor who just left Gaza and the founder of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, which runs the only pediatric cancer unit in Gaza....

t3rmit3,

They’re literally going to destroy or damage all buildings large enough to house any significant number of people, and certainly all care centers, to try to force Palestinians to accept resettlement elsewhere, or to ensure they all die of lack of resources.

It’s illegal to attack hospitals, regardless of whether you “give them notice” of the attack or not. Fucking criminals.

t3rmit3,

The media will literally wring their hands until this genocide is over, because as we’re all finding out, no one is willing to stand up to the US or China just to save some poor Palestinians or Uyghurs from being ‘displaced’ (from life).

t3rmit3,

No, no one wonders about that. We can acknowledge that Israel is doing evil stuff without questioning the existence of Hamas.

All this does is give people who want to minimize or excuse Israel’s actions an excuse to dismiss its critics.

Israel-Palestine megathread for the remainder of the weekend

the front page is now like half articles on this currently, so it’s probably time for a megathread because none of us want to keep track of 12 threads on this subject and all the resulting comments. only major subsequent developments (for example, boots on the ground; pronunciations by governments; that sort of stuff) will get...

t3rmit3,

Good thing no one I’ve seen is arguing that Hamas is good.

And also a good thing that Palestinians != Hamas.
