To help contribute, here’s the only meme I’ve ever done, which I did in response to news that Abrams was working on a new ST movie. And after seeing how well the franchise is going with SNW and LD, I feel it’s even more appropriate.
We know that gravity is a wave that travels at the speed of light, this has been experimentally measured many times. If it is also quantized (a very reasonable symptom hypothesis since everything else that we’ve ever seen is) then by definition there are particles that carry gravity.
If gravity is continuous then we would end up with something like the ultraviolet catastrophe but for gravity.
Sorry, I think I came off as too confident in my previous comment. I’m quite sure about my first paragraph but the rest is just speculation from an amateur.
If I would risk speculating even further though, there’s some similarity in the sense that infinities indicate a problem. In the ultraviolet catastrophe the infinity arises from the energy of arbitrarily short EM wavelengths. With gravity it arises in the density of black holes. It seems unreasonable that it would actually be infinite, and it’s possible that quantization of gravity plays a part in preventing that from happening.
Really interesting read about the history of YouTube adblocking, how the new detection works, how uBO is responding, and how not to block the new popups.
YouTube isn’t rolling out the anti-adblock to everyone. It seems to depend on things like your account, browser, and IP address. And if you’re not logged in or you’re in a private window, you’re safe. As a result, there are a bunch of people saying, “I use XYZ and I haven’t seen an anti-adblock popup yet,” unknowingly spreading misinformation.

If you consider the greater evolutionary history, up until very recently humans have been kind of like the monster in It Follows. They’re not very fast runners, but they are relentless. No other animal can run for such a long time. They’ll keep going and going for hours on end, and they will eventually catch up with their victim. For an injured prey with explosive strength but relatively low endurance it must be absolutely terrifying.
Dogs joined the dark side, so they probably feel all cool and mighty next to their running master. In their head they go “yeah bitches you can run, but you can never hide from my human”.
If the website developer is worth their salt, the article contents won’t be delivered from the web server until the reader has been authorized. So it doesn’t matter how much JS code you disable.
That’s not how humans work though. Just look at how people get worked up over ChatGPT conversations or romantic relationships with Replika. So at best, the Star Wars characters are not credible.
Do people really need to know more? I don’t think there are any virtues that could make up for China’s treatment of Uyghurs and the people who try to save them.
I think I’ve settled on the latter. Disagreement is maybe best communicated by the absence of an upvote? And downvotes work best when they signal something that is just off base, and while not reportable, is not appreciated at a broad cultural level.
Same, and also “this has already been said in this thread. You should have upvoted the existing comment.” Basically a tool to improve signal-to-noise ratio of the discussion.
I want to see them, I just want Lemmy to distribute them more evenly among other communities in the feed. As others have suggested the sorting algorithm should weigh each score inversely by the average score of posts in that community.
Other than your carrier give it for free or cheap, I don’t really see the reason why should you buy new phone. I’ve been using Redmi Note 9 for past 3 years and recently got my had on Poco F5. I don’t see the point of my ‘upgrade’. I sold it and come back to my Note 9. Gaming? Most of them are p2w or microtransaction...
The Google Pixel 7P that I have now I bought because I dropped the 6P on the ground so bad that it wouldn’t even start. The 6P I got because it had significantly better camera and was faster than the OnePlus 6T I had before. I know you say 100mp doesn’t make a difference from 12mp but there’s really a huge difference in image quality with the Pixel compared to the 6T, especially in low-light conditions or when you zoom. And it’s not just me, people have been commenting at how good the pictures are without even knowing what phone I own.
I also enjoy new features like the gestures to control apps. Overall, apps and the OS get slower because new features keep being added, and security updates stop coming, so I need to renew the hardware to keep up. I use the phone for hours a day every day, all year around, so I think it’s worth putting some money into it. But I don’t get a new one every year. Maybe 3 years, or possibly 2 years depending on what gets released.

Anyone else missing posts in smaller Lemmy communities because they are overshadowed by the popular ones?
I tend to miss posts in smaller communities, no matter what sorting options I use when I display the “Subscribed” feed on the frontpage....
