IR blaster! Iiss that feature. When my wife was sick in the hospital they had a TV with 10 stupid channels. But I found that the TV had a USB post. So I used a flash drive and my phone as the remote to let her watch TV shows while she was stuck in bed.
They ran a shitty corrupt government, tried to conquer eastern Europe, failed, renamed themselves to “Russian Federation”, and are now trying to recapture lost states while feeding people into a never ending meat grinder.
Seeing the other post here about YouTuber that went downhill and seeing content creators I am familiar with makes me sad. But how about those that still makes great, high quality content?
I like longer form videos, and humor of “the old Internet” so here’s some channels that still make long videos that aren’t filled zoomer click bait. In no particular order. This is from memory, I’m too lazy to make these into links. Also I’m sure there are others I can’t think of.
Our own devices
This channel stands out because it’s relatively new but it feels like a channel that should have millions of subs. Long videos about retro tech and tech history
Forgotten weapons
history of firearms. Longer format videos.
LGR
retro computers and old PC games
Gman lives
great gaming channel that reminds me of the era of TotalBiscuit. Good long videos about new and old videos games.
RedletterMedia
this channel is the Midwestern TopGear of B movie reviews.
GamersNexus
best source of PC tech news
Level1Techs
best source of general tech news and has a lot of PC gaming and tinkering content.
RegularCarReviews
funny car reviews. Format hasn’t changed in over 10 years.
Second wind
new channel. The crew that made all good videos on escapist (zero punctuation) left and made their own channel to keep doing the same thing.
I recommend an Ubuntu fork, like Pop OS, just because Ubuntu forks seem to be more stable in my experience.
But if you want to do a lot of tinkering to get random weird hardware to work, then use an Arch fork, like Endeavour OS or Manjaro. Because normally if you find an obscure project on GitHub that you want to try out, it’ll probably need you to download, compile, and then install their package on Ubuntu. But if you’re on Arch they will likely have an AUR package that you can just go and install with a single command.
My daughter just showed me a picture that had the words “Jay AF” written on it. I know what “AF” means, but what’s the “Jay” mean? She went to a cirque du solil show and wrote it on a pic of some shirtless guys twirling around....
I went to thetvdb.com site yesterday and much to my surprise, they won’t let me in unless I subscribe or turn off my adblocker. Is there any workaround for this?
I have come across a lot’s of people like these. like 99% of them. Sometimes it makes me think twice if what i am saying is wrong? What’s wrong with them. Is it so hard to swallow your pride and acknowledge that the other person is speaking facts? When they come to know they are wrong they proceed to insult/make fun of...
It’s frustrating, because the people who normally call this out are the people who are most likely to be the ones doing it.
They see people around them fail to think critically, they criticize them for that, and then turn around and never question their own opinions. Because “obviously I am right”.
Not accusing you of it, but I’m sure a lot of people reading this fall into that category. Maybe we all do.

I’m moving away from Windows and I’m looking for distro for coding and occasional gaming. If more context is needed please let me know.
