vzq,

Funny thing is that over here in Europe the ice cream machines seem to work almost all the time. I understand that it’s because they use a different brand of machines, but I’m not sure about the details.

vzq,

I get it! The joke is that borders are bad right?

vzq,

It’s not some huge controversy. Almost everyone that works with/on X11 has thrown in with weyland years ago.

vzq,

Why is everyone obsessed with DEI all of a sudden? Is DEI the new thing to be mad at or something?

Did y’all move on from 15 minutes cities and political correctness?

vzq,

That’s his name. I’m talking to him, zal.

vzq,

You mean his personal labor does not create billions of surplus value? Heresy!

vzq,

LOOK AT ME. I’M THE MAINTAINER NOW.

vzq, (edited )

Why would I care if you care what foreign people do?

vzq,

My condolences.

On the other hand, we don’t have bank offices here anymore either. And getting someone on the phone is a nightmare.

But it’s cheaper, so that’s why they raised prices. Wait, what?

Man, that’s some hyperbole. Ain’t nobody believing you haven’t seen a check in 40 years.

Late 80s is only 35 years ago, but other than that believe it. It’s true. In 1991 Maestro launched and everyone moved over to debit card payments.

The cheques only really disappeared in 2002 when the bank guarantees stopped, but I haven’t seen one in the wild since I was a little little lad. I have never ever ever had a checkbook in my own name.

More info on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocheque

It’s not for every day use but there’s always something that needs a check for some dumb reason, like setting up direct deposit or paying the emergency plumber.

My last emergency plumber was a kid in his twenties. I don’t think he even knows what a check is. But he definitely knows what a debit card is, and has a portable terminal.

Most of the xorg “mistakes” are design choices in the x11 protocol and have been there since some MIT undergrad smoked too much ganja over Christmas break 1986 and wrote the implementation that became the de facto standard.

vzq,

I picked Gale as my origin character on a whim (I wanted to get to playing without spending too much time in character creation. Also I like wizards), but he’s been a blast to play.

vzq,

The terminal is the entire reason I use Linux. All the GUI stuff on Linux is average at best. The terminal is ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

The problem is not your experience, it’s your opinion. It’s highly, highly misogynistic.

I’m not sure why you hastily point out you are not American like it’s some sort of excuse. Neither am I, but I’m also not a huge chauvinist piece of shit.

vzq,

yet, you’re free to comment on it, but I’m not allowed 😒…

Just so we’re all clear, your little woman hating ass is NOT the victim here.

vzq,

Wow dude.

This is some 1950s shit right there.

vzq,

The work speaks for itself.

It’s not saying particularly good things about the way the author perceives others or the world around them.

Micro***t Word on Linux and alternatives

Are there good Microsoft word alternatives that support Linux (I don’t mind closed source)? Libreoffice is meh and only office is quite good, but are there any better ones? Also, is there a way to install word on Linux using wine? When I do that my laptop just overheats and loses internet connection.

vzq,

These are 90s problems. Just open word files in o365 in chromium or Firefox.

vzq,

That’s just old legalese. If you want Shakespearean you at least have to make it look like iambic pentameter.

vzq,

Is it related to WW2 era navy uniforms, like Donald Duck’s? Or is it some freak convergence?

vzq,

They are doing so already. But even that has limits.

vzq,

That problem is going to sort itself out. The era of cheap fossil fuels is over. And it’s not coming back.
