Yeah, the only odd thing is installing the signing key, but it’s there for a good reason.

That said, it’s not a great user experience, especially if you start stacking a lot of ppa’s.

vzq,

The terminal is the entire reason I use Linux. All the GUI stuff on Linux is average at best. The terminal is ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Most of the xorg “mistakes” are design choices in the x11 protocol and have been there since some MIT undergrad smoked too much ganja over Christmas break 1986 and wrote the implementation that became the de facto standard.

vzq,

You sound like a hipster taking about music.

vzq,

I’m going to start this article off by saying that you don’t have to be born in the boomer generation to be a boomer. You can be a boomer by acting like one. Hate new stuff? boomer. Run a desktop from the naughties? Boomer

Why even bother having words at all if we’re going to redefine them for clickbait?

vzq,

So I don’t see how mint is a boomer OS

It’s what I put on my dad’s laptop, so in his case it’s literally BoomerOS.

vzq,

This is the contempt I’m talking about.

The problem is not GP’s window manager/desktop environment. It’s just that you fundamentally despise your readers.

vzq,

Day old account posting spam? Inconceivable!

vzq,

I’m sure there is some worthwhile content in there, but I couldn’t discern it through your palpable contempt for the reader.

vzq,

Just like tentacles and obstacles!

Why would I care if you care what foreign people do?

vzq,

The French had to hire a Japanese guy to build them one at the louvre.

vzq,

We hating on salt and lemon juice now?

What’s next, hating on butter and flour?

vzq,

But not odorless.

I tend to use sea salt, but that reeks of iodine all by its natural self.

vzq,

This AI is clearly…

one step beyond.

(I’ll go get me coat)

vzq,

These jokes were old in June 1994. Give it a rest.

I know they are dinosaurs, but the fact that someone was drawing comics about checks in 2017 is just baffling.

I don’t recall seeing a check since the late 80s.

vzq,

My condolences.

On the other hand, we don’t have bank offices here anymore either. And getting someone on the phone is a nightmare.

But it’s cheaper, so that’s why they raised prices. Wait, what?

vzq, (edited )

Man, that’s some hyperbole. Ain’t nobody believing you haven’t seen a check in 40 years.

Late 80s is only 35 years ago, but other than that believe it. It’s true. In 1991 Maestro launched and everyone moved over to debit card payments.

The cheques only really disappeared in 2002 when the bank guarantees stopped, but I haven’t seen one in the wild since I was a little little lad. I have never ever ever had a checkbook in my own name.

More info on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocheque

It’s not for every day use but there’s always something that needs a check for some dumb reason, like setting up direct deposit or paying the emergency plumber.

My last emergency plumber was a kid in his twenties. I don’t think he even knows what a check is. But he definitely knows what a debit card is, and has a portable terminal.

The Texas Superconducting Super Collider under construction, 1990s. (lemmy.world)

Excerpt: The Texas Superconducting Super Collider would have dwarfed CERN’s LHC, according to reports. It was designed as an enormous underground ring complex situated close to Waxahachie and had it been allowed to go forward, would have been considered the most energetic particle accelerator in the world. The project’s...

Bobby broccoli is legit.

I have a very small personal stake in one of the scientific fraud videos (I was a grad student with one of the profs that brought the Hendrik Schon thing crashing down) and we talked about it in the Reddit comments of his first video. He definitely knows what he’s talking about.

In fact, if anything, his videos err more toward the side of “insider drama normal people never heard of or care about” than “dry regurgitated facts”.

vzq,

Always steered clear of that place

I’m glad you were able to find a solution that works for everyone.

vzq,
vzq,

I picked Gale as my origin character on a whim (I wanted to get to playing without spending too much time in character creation. Also I like wizards), but he’s been a blast to play.
