IS there any way to block an instance entirely from the user level?
I, personally would like to block lemmynsfw.com from showing up in the communities feed. Anyone know if this can be done from the block list?

I’ve not been here long, but I’m curious how users who were present before the reddit drama feel about any potential changes to the content and tone of discussions.
I keep seeing people comment that Lemmy is mostly men in their 20s and 30s. That’s not my demo and many of the posts/comments i see don’t seem to fit that.
I’m a millennial with boomer parents, who are famous for their hands-off parenting approach. Just wondering.
This occurred to me the other day and I feel like it’s so crazy that it maybe could happen. Is it too late for him to run in the upcoming election?

Me personally? I’ve become much less tolerant of sexist humor. Back in the day, cracking a joke at women’s expense was pretty common when I was a teen. As I’ve matured and become aware to the horrific extent of toxicity and bigotry pervading all tiers of our individualistic society, I’ve come to see how exclusionarly and...
I’ve often wondered this. I have a few possible answers, but I’m curious what you all think.

Mine is a pretty tame example: I never minded the smell of garlic was fine around it… but I took a job for DHL and they had these large tubs of garlic for horses that had to go out to people. There were about 10 of them coming down the belt....
As a hypothetical, say it became easy to grab water from objects in space and then move it places that needed (Africa / the gulf). What would the end results be for the global climate over time? Would you just end up with a flooded earth? Would temperatures rise or fall as time goes on?
Hello fellow lemmy’s , A bit of back story. I’m currently stuck with a decision and don’t know what way to take it , I’ve moved back to my home city a month ago to be close to family and friends after a 3 year relationship ended, now that I’ve settled in I’m starting to regret the choice in moving , my job is based...
I heard about C2PA and I don’t believe for a second that it’s not going to be used for surveillance and all that other fun stuff. What’s worse is that they’re apparently trying to make it legally required. It also really annoys me when I see headlines along the lines of “Is AI the end of creativity?!1!” or “AI will...
How many people in the US have “been on tv”. There Isaacs got in my hometown who’s whole identity is that he was a contestant on a committe cooking show. I’m trying to gauge how common it is for a random person that you might meet at a bar to have been on TV. By this I mean:...
Prove me wrong, please?...
What the title says. I’m basically curious if the posts will be locked like on Reddit or if it will be possible to add comments to old posts (a feature which I missed on Reddit).
North East? South? Midwest? Something else?
My pick would be, dealing with the ‘wild west’ atmosphere. That being, before cyber bullying laws existed, you had bunches of people getting off scot-free with telling you to off yourself or call you a list of derogatory terms.
I come from Reddit and been enjoying Lemmy so far. How is Lemmy dealing with multiple communities on the same topic? To me:...
I’ve noticed that most people here are ex-redditors, migrating due to the API changes and u/spez’s problematic leadership. I’m wondering, though, how many people here use Lemmy despite never using Reddit?...
I need too build one for school, I figure this would be a way to brainstorm
Hi! There’s a baby bird in my yard. It’s about the size of my fist. It has a few short white feathers. I think they’re pin feathers. The nest is too high for me to reach; so I left it alone on the ground....
What is the difference between “hot” “top” and “active”? Both “New” and “old” make total sense but i have never been able to figure the others out
Since Yelp lets businesses pay to revise reviews and advertise for top results, I was wondering if there were any good open source/non-monetized review sites or apps that people have tried out? I usually compare to google reviews and read some of the top reviews to try and filter out the junk, but I know I’m still getting...
