Nawor3565, to privacy in Google seems to be blocking API access for Piped video servers

Not to be a downer but… how did people not anticipate this happening? Google is likely going to do everything they can to shut down non-official clients like Piped, since they’re sidestepping all of YouTube’s revenue streams. Hopefully they don’t take the nuclear option and somehow lock down the API and make it much harder to download videos via tools like yt-dlp.

@themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.works avatar

They are definitely in a crackdown phase. Some revanced versions stopped working just yesterday, the yt-dlp stuff, the ad block block…

The best hope would be to get off of YouTube but that’s not happening any time soon given how expensive bandwidth is.

GreenMario,

I updated mine last week cuz it was stopping videos a minute in. Seems to work for now.

pazzeda,

Had the same issue, updating the patches via the manager worked.

DengueDucky, to piracy in gluetun: VPN client in a thin Docker container for multiple VPN providers

What’s the use case?

roofuskit,
@roofuskit@kbin.social avatar

The container connects to the VPN and only the VPN, now you can route whatever docker containers you want through that container as a network. Now that one VPN connection can serve any container you want.

There's already a pretty recent post about this on the threadiverse. I recommend checking the discussion there as lots of us are not likely to repeat our comments.

sky, to linux in Accent colors are now a standard preference for Linux

Nice! I recently switched to Android and the Material You adaptive coloring through the system is so nice.

Anything that makes customizing a Linux desktop a little easier is good in my book.

NateSwift,

You can think of yas-bdsm eject as your safeword.

He definitely knows

AJamesBrown,

You can put whatever you wish inside of YAS-BDSM as long as everyone is having a good time.

Feel free to use it (or get used by it).

It’s MS. They couldn’t secure a cup of coffee.

dudewitbow,

You have to hand it to mocrospft though in the console department, xbox generally dont have software hacks to jailbreak consoles historically (generally hard mods), but nintendo and sonys OS is usually riddled with exploits.

dudewitbow,

The WiiU had far.backeards compatibility and very low population, but was not immune to exploits.

Officially wii, had built in emulators for old retro consoles and stuff, and unofficially gamecube.

Bread,

To add to this, not one person has jail broken a steam deck. Not because it is impossible, but because it would be pointless.

Will this convert a home edition to pro?

speq,

It does, pretty easily. There’s a convenient “change Windows edition” menu item.

QuazarOmega, to privacyguides in Standard Notes is changing its license

In terms of privacy, nothing would change, it’s still the same as ever so I think the recommendation can absolutely stay up, even proprietary apps are suggested on Privacy Guides.
In terms of software freedom, this is a terrible change and I really dislike projects moving to source-available models, in this case, as the other commenters said there, I don’t even think it’s legal, unless every contributor has signed a CLA in the past.
I feel for not wanting to be explioted by corporate, but they could have gone the dual licensing path and instead chose to restrict everyone’s freedom, even us users. Now that doesn’t mean forks can’t be made I believe, it’s just that anyone who does that, won’t ever be able to sell the service which could be unsustainable since they made the server CC-BY-NC-SA, that’s a big turn off for those who want to host that

Thank you for raising this. My subscription was up for renewal next year, and I think I’ll look elsewhere now.

The only reason I chose to support S Notes in the first place is they were the best designed FOSS notes app at the time, and 4 years later they have plenty of competition in that space fortunately. Honestly I expected better from them, they say all the right things but I guess the greed just got too much for them.

smeg, to privacyguides in OmitMe - Your Privacy-Centric, Easily Extendable Data Deletion Solution

So how does it work?

Ward,
@Ward@lemmy.nz avatar

Basically think of it as a SDK for defining data deletion on a platform. Omitme handles all the annoying stuff like account storage, building a CLI/GUI & sessions.

The core of Omitme is Seleniumwire used to grab login session tokens for platforms & HTTPX for making requests with those session tokens. Then you simply define you data deletion “targets” and the API calls to delete such data.

I’ll be waiting for the GUI cuz i’m kinda stupid. How does it work if discord rate limits you btw? Are you able to modify the milliseconds of the deletion rate of messages?

Ward,
@Ward@lemmy.nz avatar

Currently it delays if discord issues a rate limit.
