Basically the community shows up when I search from worlds as over 1k subs but just 9 from vlemmy. I guess that is the number of local subs from each instance?
Yes, it just means that there are 9 people from vlemmy that have subbed to that community. This bit is a bit confusing, for example if nobody had subbed to it yet from vlemmy then it would show 0 subs.
This is one of the primary differences between us and kbin. They have a karma system, we don’t. Otherwise the two systems are pretty fundamentally similar.
So, people who wish that have their option. Those that do not, come here. As a result of this basic sorting of the market, you will find that most of us Lemmings are not in favor of it.
I left Reddit just ahead of the blackout, and I’ve only been returning for one small private sub that can’t effectively be moved. I figure, since it’s private, Reddit doesn’t get much credit for my activity there.
I’ve used Relay exclusively for many years, so I’ve been happy that it’s continued to work. It will be annoying if/when I have to use the browser to go to that sub.
About the same when you ask for a good GUI replacement for X and someone replies "just use the command line", like cheers for that men, not what I'm asking for.
AMEN! I asked recently if there was a good Linux alternative to this program I used in Windows called “Bulk Rename Utility” and i was flooded by people telling me how easy it was to set up a script to do what I want.
Turns out the best alternative is running BRU in Wine.
Nsfw is also dead on mobile web. And just a reminder that nsfw isn't just porn, it's also cannabis and vape content, and likely other content that touched "sensitive" subjects.
I uninstalled Relay yesterday. It was a good decade but time to move on.
I get that there are workarounds to patch apps and bypass NSFW which I could very easily avail myself of, but the more I consider it the more this whole drama has put me off Reddit as a platform, and really any centralised platforms. I could still use them but I just don't want to.. staying as an active user just feels like tacit endorsement of communities being decimated by a company that doesn't even pay the folks that actually keep them going.
It wasn't really worth it to pay a subscription for the pixel pal unfortunately and the free version isn't as full featured as it was on Apollo so no dice for me.
