when i encounter a dog turd on the sidewalk, i usually imagine force-feeding it to the nasty owner who left it there. it makes me super angry.

OhFudgeBars,

For my part, I’m thinking of carrying a bag full of signs that say “Shame!” that I can put next to the offending excrement. Both to shame whoever’s responsible, but also everyone else can watch their step.

Kwakigra, to news in Afghan girls as young as 16 arrested in shops, classes and markets in Kabul by the Taliban, who labelled them ‘infidels’ for wearing ‘bad hijab’

The lesson we Westerners can learn from this and some action we can take right now is not to support the establishment and proliferation of far right-wing extremist religious organizations anymore. The action we should not take is to get involved with Afganistan’s affairs and make the problem worse than we’ve already made it.

Nacktmull, to news in Israel-Gaza war live: Israeli hostages mistakenly killed by IDF in Gaza were holding makeshift white flag, official says

Does the fact that they held a white flag not rule out a “mistake”?

socphoenix,

You know someone will state that a “common Hamas tactic” any minute now

socphoenix,

Well didn’t take long just found this in a different post…

Unaware7013,

Wow, I like the one guy farther down who claims Likud is awful but it's Hamas propaganda that the IDF kills kids.... like the massive dead civilian and kid numbers are just all propaganda to make a genocidal ethnistate look bad.

athos77, to news in Top Trump allies facing charges lose lawyers after failing to pay legal bills

Steve Bannon, Rudy Giuliani and Mike Lindell

So, anyway, y'all do anything fun for Halloween?

MagicShel,

I dressed up as Darth Vader and took my kids out. It was popular. I had several kids assure me they were on the side of the Empire. Then when they got past me, they were like, “I’m really a Jedi,” and run away. It was a good time other than I was completely blind. I couldn’t have chased those little younglings down if I’d wanted.

Anyway what were we talking about? Broke dipshits who chose irrelevance when they had the option of being rich and silent? Meh.

blindsight,

lol, that’s amazing. I’m imagining you with a deep voice… “ARE YOU WITH THE EMPIRE OR REBEL SCUM?!”

Oh man. This caused a flashback to that time I had a 3 day long cold that caused me to cough non-stop for the next month until I went to the doctor for steroids to make it stop.

That phase-out was in the works for 15+ years. Pretty sure I’ve read somewhere that the UK has been stalling it for years, so they definitely knew it was coming.

Shame they lost their voice in the EU commission and have yet another consequence of their own actions to swallow.

fmstrat, to news in Greenland startup begins shipping glacier ice to cocktail bars in the UAE

I put this in the cross post, bit figure it belongs here, too:

While ridiculous, there’s interesting context here.

  • Greenland has little to no economy
  • The ice is mined from ice that has already broken away from the glacier, thus not reducing any more than nature has already
  • Cargo ships bringing frozen food used to leave empty, now that same fuel is used to transport ice back instead of going to waste
  • The founder has always dreamed of a sustainable economy for Greenland
  • He is conflicted about how his work to do this in a sustainable way is being taken

Lots of gray here.

get all worked up for a while and then lose interest

…most likely the byproduct of ever-shortening attention and memory spans.

stoy, to upliftingnews in ‘Amazing’: Queensland mum uses electric car to ‘save’ son’s life with dialysis during power outage

I would not be surprised if EVs will be an integral part of the future power grid, though it would be better to have static power pods with batteries distributed in neighbourhoods.
