And it is still there today. This is the “Schwebebahn” in the City of Wuppertal.

If you know this video of the old days, and drive with it today, you can recognise many of the old buidlings, bridges…

Yup! Since 1993… Started Linux on my desktop and haven’t looked back.

jimbolauski, to linux in I'm Done With Windows, Are you?

I have a work Windows laptop that I refer to as my time machine. If not for having to use it for time sheets, email, word, and PowerPoint fun I’d kick the habit all together.

HulkSmashBurgers, to linux in I'm Done With Windows, Are you?

Hell yeah I am. I’ve been using linux since 2019. I bought a dell laptop and installed manjaro.

I recently discovered GNU Guix and decided to install it onto an old desktop (built in 2009) I had laying around. I used a system crafters custom installer and the accompanying video to do a non-libre kernel install. I’ve been liking Guix and I think I’m going to install it onto my laptop and make it my daily driver.

The sheer amount of tech lingo in your post is exactly why most people won’t switch. We just want to use the damn thing, not tinker with it all night.

Don‘t forget your Miranda rights, because the cops will do and they won‘t get consequences for this at all.

Sylver, (edited )

And then you might still get arrested for “impeding an investigation” and “failure to comply” even though your constitutional rights allow said non-compliance.

Then you get fired because you had to sit in jail until the charges are dropped, and suddenly your foodstamps agent audits you so you lose a week of access to food on top of it all!

charonn0, to mildlyinteresting in Why do the cables ONLY vibrate between these two poles?
@charonn0@startrek.website avatar

Perhaps that section is exactly centered between two different sources of vibration, so the vibrations meet and amplify at that point?

safesyrup, to mildlyinteresting in Why do the cables ONLY vibrate between these two poles?

This is indeed very interesting. I can reccomend asking the telecom company that owns the line with a quick email as to whats going on here, they usually like to answer such questions. Maybe post in a sub thats more familiar with mechanics/electronics or even general asklemmy?

UKFilmNerd, to movies in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F | Official Teaser Trailer
@UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk avatar

There was a pilot for a TV show in 2013. The show was based around Axel Foley’s son but Eddie Murphy appears in the pilot.

The studio thought Murphy would make an appearance semi regularly but when he said no, that killed the show from ever happening.

It’s floating around on the internet if you want to see it.

What about using a VPN to bypass geographical restrictions? You will just need to search VPN into you favorite app store.

Apollo2323,

It is not only about that is about real ownership of the media.

brax,

Some songs get completely yanked. You can list them, you can scrape them with the Spotify API. And you can see the available countries is empty.

justtobbi, to piracy in Another reason for piracy.

Just highly theoretical, how would one have the best possible experience pirating music via DDL (no torrenting) and organizing it?

Usenet and Soulseek

DjMeas, (edited )

For me, I subscribe to Deezer (or you can do a trial) and run Deemix which is able to download the music in MP3 or FLAC. It directly downloads the music using Deezer’s API.

As far as organizing it goes, I typically just host it with Plex or a Subsonic player like Navidrome.

Any similar tool for Spotify so I don’t have to record a digital interface?

scytale, to movies in Godzilla x Kong : The New Empire | Official Trailer

After seeing how scary and powerful he is in Minus One, I don’t think any type of fantastical depiction of Godzilla will ever top it. I’m sure it’s still gonna be a fun movie to watch though. Who doesn’t like to see giant monsters fight.

I think we can all agree that the best line of that song is “shut up Westley”.

Just want to praise this channel for it’s aviation content. Anyone interested in well-researched WWII aviation content by a presenter with the bona fides needs to be subscribed.
