JWBananas, in What's something you'd change in men's fashion, given the chance?

We didn't ask for stretchy pants. Give me back my cotton jeans.

And while you're at it, put back the other two belt loops.

doc,

Stretch everything! It's getting hard to find anything without it.

Addv4,

It doesn't last as long, that why. Actually good denim is really hard to get now on jeans without paying a fortune.

CCatMan,

Outerknown jeans are nice

I would love to see more color and flair normalized for all kinds of men. I see so many dudes wearing the khaki pants, blue dress shirt uniform. Boring.

smattering82, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

For me Brazilian jiu Jitsu got me in great shape and the grind of it helped me get into hard workouts too. I don’t enjoy lifting or doing cardio but I love the after reward. Jiu jitsu definitely helped me know I could push past what I thought was a limit.

mochi, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

I love riding my bike on the weekends and if my commute wasn’t 1.5 hours each way, I’d go to the gym pretty often.

otherbarry, in What is some good things to do with a new pc/laptop/computer?

For new equipment you may want to make sure it is Windows 11 compatible otherwise your Windows 10 laptop only has about 2 years worth of updates left learn.microsoft.com/…/windows-10-home-and-pro

Alternatively could be good time to look into installing Linux.

LordOlgort, in What's a quote that has stuck with you for your whole life?

Success leads to stagnation; stagnation leads to failure. … Failure leads to maturity; maturity leads to success.

Is there anything the rest of us can do to cultivate such a mindset?

For cardio it’s basically “go slow”. The main source of discomfort is the exertion.
An easy long run with good music is quite meditative and enjoyable.
When your legs hurt and you’re wheezing your lungs out, not so much.

pineapplelover, in What is some good things to do with a new pc/laptop/computer?

Reapply the thermal paste, reinstall windows 10, run CTT windows utility script, dual boot linux, run nextdns on it, use brave and librewolf, update all your firmware.

First one might be hard for a laptop
If it has OOBE you don’t need to reinstall

pineapplelover,

I reinstall just to make sure it is fresh and ridden of all the antivirus and bloatware crap that is installed

Aatube,
@Aatube@kbin.social avatar

I think just regular uninstalling using tools like https://github.com/Klocman/Bulk-Crap-Uninstaller is way easier

ryathal, in What is some good things to do with a new pc/laptop/computer?

Get a bigger/better hard drive, 250gb isn’t going to be that useful unless you really only surf the web or work with basic office documents. The average game nowadays is going to take 15-20% of your drive, the worst offenders won’t even fit on it.

fubo, in Which learning path makes the most amount of sense?

Are you brand new to programming? If so, it doesn’t really matter what your first language is, so long as you don’t stop with one.

WhatASave, in What's a quote that has stuck with you for your whole life?

Once is never, twice is always.

small44, in How much "data" do you personally have?

Phone only
40 Gb of apps
160 gb of music. Would be a lot higher if my music didn’t have 128kbps as quality
2.2 Gb of images
4.5 GB of videos

CanadaPlus, in How much "data" do you personally have?

Probably like 3 TB. I archive stuff sometimes to protect against service disruptions of all severity, but I don’t game much or have an extensive movie collection.

Velonie, in Which learning path makes the most amount of sense?

Go the JavaScript route. React is the most popular front end technology rn, and Node is also really common. You’ll have the best chance at either contributing to projects, or getting a job this way
