That’s a big part of the difference. Cats in the old world are probably fine since everything there has evolved alongside them. But the native species in the Americas haven’t had housecats to worry about until relatively recently in evolutionary terms.
The door to the back is a portal to the elemental plane of pizza. Employees dip into the back to slay a pizza elemental and harvest its crust whenever they run out of dipping sticks.
The difference is that the only way of truly verifying if you are an adult on the internet is extremely privacy-invading. It’s not like at the liquor store where a clerk can just look at someone and know that they are too young to be there.
I forget which season it’s in, but LD has one of my favourite tidbits of worldbuilding in all of ST. In the episode where they are goofing on the TOS movies, there is a scene where Kayshon busts through a door and shouts “Temba!” before shooting a bad guy. Thereby establishing that the Tamarian “Temba, his arms wide” not only means “take this” in the sense of sharing/offering something to someone, but also means “Take this!” in the sense of an exclamation when attacking someone.

I could ask the same question about people who post bad-faith leading questions on asklemmy with the sole intent of ranting about something that annoys them.
the problem will get so bad that I will feel the terror of catastrophic failure if I don’t deal with it, at which point my fight or flight instincts will kick in and I will have the motivation to actually deal with it.
Out of curiosity, how much had you already taught them about the tasks? Was it just expected that between the whole team there would be someone who knew this stuff?
That episode is probably my favourite episode of Voyager so far (but I’m not very far into it yet). The idea of the culture shock that would come to a whole society when they find out all at once that death is a real thing is fucking crazy and they cover it really well.
Seriously this was very surprising. I’ve been experimenting with GrayJay since it was announced and I largely think it’s a pretty sweet app. I know there are concerns over how it isn’t “true open source” but it’s a hell of a lot more open than ReVanced. Plus, I like the general design and philosophy of the app....
For me personally, trams are right up there. Aside from the main issue of sharing the roads instead of having a dedicated line, they really make it easy to get from one part of a city to another, especially for wheelchair users. They’re usually as frequent as buses, but much faster. The stations are much more attractive...
Does anyone of you know filen.io? Do you trust it? The Pricing is so attractive and I never heard of that company before, so it seems a bit too good to be true. What do you think?
It is difficult for me to ascertain when the person I am communicating is using a logical fallacy to trick me into believing him or doubting my judgement, even when I realise it hours after the argument....
Generally a good approach is to try learning the rules of logic. Logic is all about proving things to be true using only facts. It can also be helpful to try some logic puzzles or riddles which can only be solved using hard logic. Note that this won’t automatically make you a better critical thinker, but it will help you exercise that muscle.
Also, it’s helpful to play devil’s advocate. If you hear someone making an argument, try to imagine how you would dispute that argument if you disagreed with it. It doesn’t matter if you actually agree or not, just imagine you did and think about what your counter argument would be. This is what high school debate teams have to do; they are given a topic and a position and have to defend their position.
It always helps to be aware of the facts, or at least of how to find facts. If you see a debate happening where you can’t tell who is right, do your own research on a site like Wikipedia and try to see what the truth is for yourself. Not every argument has a correct answer, but you will at least be able to see where each side is coming from.

People who post content because it makes you angry : why do you help it spread?
Stuff like memes from people you think are wrong politically, cartoons you don’t find funny, etc etc. Why help the things you hate spread?
What do ridiculously rich people (like Bill Gates etc.) ask for/get for Christmas/birthdays/etc.?
