imaqtpie, in Downvotes = “I disagree” or “this is bad and you should feel bad”?
@imaqtpie@sh.itjust.works avatar

I am not some teacher grading essays and giving points for good structure.

That’s exactly my point. You are not the ultimate judge of what is good and what is bad. I’m not telling you to upvote things you disagree with, I’m simply telling you to not downvote unless it’s clearly not relevant.

All of your comments on this thread are good comments that I disagree with. Sometimes, disagreement leads to growth.

STUPIDVIPGUY, in Is it normal for a person to "feel" less as they get older?

Yeah I would say it’s definitely normal. I just try to get out there and push myself to do new things, and really be present and thankful for the beautiful things that I do experience.

jcit878,

the wonder can still exist. the pressure of adult life is so damn clouding though. what helps for me (and my wife) is solo travel, we have both found it to be one of the best things we ever decided to do. a week or so to yourself to completely forget all about work, home I have found to be extremely helpful. Do exactly what you want, take your time, and you can find beauty in the everyday things again. If its possible of course

STUPIDVIPGUY,

Solo travel can really teach you a lot about yourself. I had a great time living in my car for 3 weeks but I learned that I got lonely as hell. Until I met a couple friends in Nevada to help put things in perspective.

mintiefresh, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Almost never.

Sometimes when I need to troubleshoot or am looking for specific information, then I will add reddit. It still shines there.

But don’t have a login anymore and I don’t visit daily. Lemmy has become my main now.

J12, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Hadn’t been in 3 days besides accidentally opening Apollo. I’m going to stop by one of these days and edit and delete my comments and posts.

Ketos, in What's your real-life superpower?

I can lift 55lbs over my head while treading water

koreth, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Yes, but much less than I used to. When I don’t have a particular goal in mind and just want to doomscroll a bit, I find myself checking Lemmy first, and only if I run out of things to read, which I usually don’t, do I move on to Reddit.

There are still some niche communities that are active on Reddit and not here. So I do still go over there on purpose for those.

totem22, in Are you replacing Reddit with Lenny?

yep, feels like old reddit and i’m so so happy!

Candelestine, in What would you call a monarchist government where multiple families rules in turns?

Personally I’d call it that system the vampires used in Underworld, but I’m not that sophisticated. I’d also be tempted to call it Musical Thrones.

vis4valentine,
@vis4valentine@lemmy.ml avatar

Musical Thrones.

Song of Ice and Fire: A Game of Musical Thrones.

Double_A, in Homebrew insulin or diy 3D printed meat?
@Double_A@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Just don’t live in a country where one company has a monopoly on Insulin and you also can’t Import it. Then problem one is not a problem anymore.

Kurt,
@Kurt@lemmy.one avatar

There’s not really a problem with meat either. You don’t have to eat it and if you do, you don’t have to feel bad about eating animals.

That said, there is kind of a problem with insulin manufacturing in that it’s kind of centralized and distribution can be difficult, especially in remote areas with unreliable electricity. If insulin manufacturing could be done at the garage or shipping container scale in the places where it’s needed, it would help a lot of people.

Barbacamanitu,

If insurance companies weren’t greedy parasites insuling could be much more available too.

fearout, in What would you call a monarchist government where multiple families rules in turns?
@fearout@kbin.social avatar

Don’t have any extra suggestions, rotational monarchy that was mentioned in another comment sounds good to me.

Just wanted to say that I’m intrigued by your story setup :)

cakeistheanswer, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?
@cakeistheanswer@lemmy.fmhy.ml avatar

I’ve checked the frontpage from time to time just to monitor what’s changing, but I have yet to log in.

HollowNotion, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Yeah, I do. There’s just more content there. More articles. More questions. More discussion. Not all of it is good, but a lot of what I use reddit for is taking the temperature on things… games, movies, books, general opinions on news articles, etc. I like Lemmy, but it doesn’t have the userbase to make this my only “front page of the internet” for now.

CorbinDallas, in What would you call a monarchist government where multiple families rules in turns?

Sounds a bit like Malaysia, where the “The Yang di-Pertuan Agong [the constitutional monarch] is elected by the Conference of Rulers, comprising the nine rulers of the Malay states, with the office de facto rotated between them, making Malaysia one of the world’s few elective monarchies.”

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yang_di-Pertuan_Agong

electrogamerman, in Status no poop guy

Is that the lemmy version of poop in the shower reddit guy?

SmokeInFog, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?
@SmokeInFog@midwest.social avatar

Nope. Deleted my account as soon as I heard about the API pricing and never looked back. As far as I was and still am concerned, even if they backtracked the API bullshit the writing is on the wall: reddit no longer cares about providing value to users, if they ever did. They’re no in the endgame of enshittification of trying to extract value from anywhere they can, quality of service be damned.
