PizzasDontWearCapes, in Liftoff. Lemmy app. Do you like the way it works now?

I switched to Liftoff from Jerboa.

There are a few features that either don’t exist or I haven’t found (jump to next comments thread), but it’s worked really well overall.

For context, I use Relay when I’m on Reddit

Check out Thunder! It’s my favorite Lemmy app so far coming from Relay. Similar to Jerboa but a lot smoother in my experience.

ByDarwinsBeard, in what was your first video game/system you played or remember playing?

Before I started school my mother sometimes would have to bring me in to work with her when she couldn’t find a baby sitter. She worked in a restaurant in a bowling alley, during the day it wasn’t very busy so she would be running the place on her own. There were a few regulars who would give me quarters to play the Galaga machine, and sometimes they’d give me a couple bucks and I’d go across the building to the arcade for some Spy Hunter and Donkey Kong.

you are a closet conservative. the algoritham has spoken.

loehwe, in People around the world, do you drink tap water without boiling?
@loehwe@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Yes I’m drinking untreated tap water in Germany, got a SodaStream to add bubbles sometimes. When we were recently visiting the US (NYC) I drank tap water, too, but my wife didn’t like it because of a distinct chlorine smell and taste but I didn’t mind

Boinketh, in Is there an easy way to bring all my old technical posts from Reddit to Lemmy?

You can still use the authless Reddit API to scrape your old posts. Just add “.json” to the end of your URL, like so: www.reddit.com/user/jaschen/submitted.json

To get the next page, add “?after=AFTER” to the end after “.json”, where AFTER is the value you got from the preceding request. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Lemmy’s API, so you’ll need to solve that yourself.

berkeleyblue, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?
@berkeleyblue@lemmy.world avatar

No and I never liked it. I tried going to the gym for a while to lose weight but I felt horrible afterwards and during the excersice and the actual Impact on my obesity was quite minimal (probably my fault as I‘m sure I didn’t do everything right). So i stoped going eventually. I know started walking more, I don’t take the bus from the train station home anymore and rather walk the 3.5km with some nice podcast oj my ears. I like doing it, even atvthe current temperatures as I feel like a get 45 minutes just for me where I don’t have to listen to anyone or anything other than my podcasts I enjoy. I work ij Retail so there’s a constant barrage of people and at the end of the day you just don’t want to see people for a while. So while it does help my weight loss it also just feels kinda therapeutic in a way. I just crossed 120kg (down from 136) this morning and plan to try to extend my walks to my days of as well :-)

Just use Odysee, the YouTube algorithm is fully cooked from millions of hours of pure crap being posted every day.

puppy, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

I am not a fan of other workouts but I LOVE cycling. Wind in my face, sightseeing, ability to push harder or just cruise to catch my breath makes it really enjoyable IMO.

agressivelyPassive,

Same. At first it sucked, but nowadays, I really enjoy just being on my bike. I’m not competitive at all, if I’m slow, I’m slow.

nodiet,

I was going to say the same thing. With cycling, you get an immediate reward for your spent effort because riding fast just feels really fun. So I find myself wanting to put as much energy in as possible.

burningmatches,

Cycling can also be a great social activity. You can have a nice chatty ride to a coffee shop or something a bit more competitive, depending on your preference. And it’s easy to find a group at your level, no matter your fitness.

OprahsedCreature,

Great solo activity too for the introverts. Pair of headphones and we’re off to the races. It’s an extremely adaptable sport.

domesticstreetcat,

I’m the same with running. Not a fan of anything else after the years.

RocksForBrains, in Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?

Conservative proganda is a highly coordinated and well-funded network. They pay for preference.

It’s not that so much as Howard Stern theory. The people that like that stuff, click on it and move on.

The people that hate that stuff hate it enough to interact with it… That means more time on the site, more ads, more revenue.

It’s just the hate algorithms… They’re lucrative.

ninjakttty, in Which one are you?

Jbox curly fries are on point. Def S-tier.

Then BK, McDonalds.

I’ll lump all the rest in the middle scribe I don’t think I’ve had them.

And F- for In-n-out good lord do they make terrible fries, (B- if you make them animal style)

angstylittlecatboy, in Why hasn’t r/circlejerk made there presence known on lemmy?

It’s probably inevitable, but…circlejerk subs are a scourge.
