They’re not all “good” movies, but something keeps me coming back.

Afghaniscran,

I was a stoner teen, napoleon dynamite was hilarious so I watched it so many times.

state_electrician,

Is Contagion that one, where Matt Damon has the disease but lives? I watched some disease movie last year and that’s the only thing I remember. Also shout out for Ninth Gate. Rarely see that one mentioned. Overall we have a very similar taste.

I can’t not rewatch Hot Fuzz whenever it’s on telly

ghashul,

Hot Fuzz is my answer too, but never on the telly. I saw it several times in the theater and bought the dvd immediately upon release.

ElCabron,

Shut it!

Hextic,

I swear this movie is the perfect example of a master class of editing and timing. It needs to be studied.

“You’ve got red on you.”

sarahcanary,

Came here looking for this! I knew I couldn’t be the only fan of the Winchester. I first saw the movie playing at my neighbor dive bar, which was bunker like, and yep, could definitely get with the plan of holing up there until this all blew over.

All the scenes are great and hilarious no matter how many times I see this movie.

Fun fact: Have you seen Spaced? The old friend he comes across leading the group through the back fences is a character from a prior show they were both in together.

oranges, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Literally have not been back since I decided to leave before the blackout.

Considering incised to spen hours a day s rolling that place, I haven’t missed it and just moved on. 12years or more I was a regular contributor and viewer and quit cold turkey style :)

I feel like this is a good approach. Honestly an invisible voting system might be better cause how many up or down votes something has prevents others from fully forming their own opinion.

Friday the 13th the new blood, V for vendetta and hackers.

When I was younger, I rewatched Inception plenty of times because it was my favourite movie and because I keep seeing new details, learning new little things about the movie every time.

Try Memento it you're in to that

counselwolf,

I’ve watched it already, and I did like it.

fuzzybee, (edited ) in In which game did you spend the most hours?

Definitely factorio, but I can’t tell you how many hours. I started playing on steam, but then downloaded it from factorio.com and had multiple installs so I could play different mod packs. Steam says 1100 hours, but it’s got to be 3 or 4 times that, total. I’ve played multiple saves that took several hundred hours

Silaor,

Do you know of a factorio community on lemmy? I tried looking but didn’t find anything.

fuzzybee,

I subscribed to !factorio but it doesn’t have much traffic.

AlexWIWA,

I’ll join too. Let’s give it traffic

Silaor,

Thank you, subscribed!

arcrust,

Same here. Steam says 200 hours. Which is a lot for me. The next closest is NMS at 50 hours.

My play time is also higher because I have played many hours offline and then reset my computer so it didn’t track that time.

It’s such a ridiculously addictive game. I regret nothing.

fuzzybee,

My longest NMS save is 80 hours. I mostly just do the expeditions.

Gestrid, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I use it for two things: checking out protest stuff and checking the only subreddit (it’s a small one) that’s actually keeping me on Reddit.

ConditionOverload, in How do you cheer yourself up after a rough day? Or a rough year?
@ConditionOverload@lemmy.world avatar

I make a routine to make myself forget about the world for a bit. For me that’s getting a soda and watching a movie/TV show for a couple of hours or playing video games.

lemminer, in What movie did you rewatch most often?

These are the movies on the top of my head I’ve watched more than 20 times.

  • Batman: Dark knight
  • Orange clockwork, Eyes wide shut, Dr. Strangelove
  • Before sunrise and before sunset. Third one is kinda cringe.
  • Shawshank Redemption
makanimike,

Before sunrise and before sunset. Third one is kinda cringe.

I’m curious if this might change over time/I wonder if you might still be youngish and if your view on it may change as you reach a certain age.

I’ve rewatched Before Sunset the most out of the trilogy, by far. Midnight feels a little tough because it hits home. Then again, maybe that’s what you meant to convey.

lemminer,

You got that right. Before sunset was the one I rewatched alot out of the three. I had a relatable moment in my life which I still cherish.

I didn’t understood your first statement.

makanimike,

I wonder if it’s a movie that might get better as someone ages. I can absolutely imagine that somebody might find it better at age 45 vs at 25.

ConditionOverload, in What movie did you rewatch most often?

I love rewatching “monster” movies. Like The Mummy, Deep Blue Sea, and Lake Placid.

rockyrikoko, in What is the most unhelpful advice you have received?

Pray about it

MrsDoyle,

Some of the churches where I live have a big banner outside that says, “Try praying”. It strikes me as comically desperate. Imagine a car dealership with a “Try driving” banner, a restaurant with “Try eating”.

niktemadur,
@niktemadur@kbin.social avatar

Meditation is better advice. By which I mean doing the exercises to approach grounding oneself in the present, sensing and feeling things from that perspective, instead of the YESTERDAY and TOMORROW clashing storms inside our minds.
But one can't just start meditating one day - "from zero to sixty", so to speak - and expect immediate results. It's a discipline, like brushing your teeth every day.

NotYourSocialWorker,

This, as a general advice, is just as bad as praying unless you actually know the person.
