My dad said this offhanded joking remark to me 30 years ago and it lives rent free in my head. It’s a privileged view point for sure but I took it to mean save and be prepared but don’t be frugal toa detriment. Spend on things you love and spend away on things you hate. Don’t waste time if you can afford not to.
I enjoy reading thoughtful content that I disagree with. I downvote based on perceived intent of the comment or post. If it’s just mean, hateful, trolling, wildly off-topic, or anything like that it will get a downvote.
Games (Blizzard and Riot) I have a linux laptop that I occasionally use. It is far better than it was years before, yet there are still occasions when it just does not work, or it refuses to update.
Depends on what kind of “I don’t agree”. If somebody asks for people’s favorite food, I’m not going to dislike all other answers… But if it’s a more serious question, and an answer just has a really bad take that I don’t agree with, that’s getting a dislike.
There’s not really a problem with meat either. You don’t have to eat it and if you do, you don’t have to feel bad about eating animals.
That said, there is kind of a problem with insulin manufacturing in that it’s kind of centralized and distribution can be difficult, especially in remote areas with unreliable electricity. If insulin manufacturing could be done at the garage or shipping container scale in the places where it’s needed, it would help a lot of people.
A certain community I’m subscribed to is very active right now, to the point of almost drowning out all other committees in my feed. A “temporary hide” would be very welcome
