Chernobyl… I’ve rewatched it so many times my husband will ask me what I’m watching while he’s at work (I’m a SAHM) and when I don’t answer right away he knows I’ve got it on again 🤦🏽♀️😂 can’t watch it when he’s home cause he’s sick of it now hahaha 😝
I think there are even a few grammatical errors that native english speaking people are more likely to be doing that us folks who learned it as a second language.
When I see things like “should of”, “would of”, “for all intensive purposes” it’s usually coming from a native speaker.
I think someone who learned speaking the language before first and writing it second is more likely to make these.
I assimilated “should”, “have” and “of” before I really used contractions, so I never make that mistake.
It’s even somewhat jarring to read.
should of… of what?
The chipotle/Qdoba near me has gone way too downhill in the past few years for me. The burritos used to be huge, now they’re the size of a small potato. Also 50% of the time they mess up my order and I don’t realize until I get home and open it up.
My fiance and I needed something to put on in the background that wouldn’t distract us while we worked late during a very busy week. We picked a random episode in season 2 and ended up re-watching the whole show over the course of 3 weeks.
It’s impossible here in any broad way. If an admin allowed it to go too far, they end up running off users, and possibly end up defederated if it gets really crazy.
There’s already duplicates of half the c/s out there, particularly among the reddit copies.
You might think that power admins could be the equivalent problem, but we’ve already seen problematic instances be defederated widely.
Pretty much every instance out there right now that has enough users to have power mods already has specific rules against going bonkers with moderation.
It’s a different system, a different culture, and the ultimate control is decentralized and distributed.
About the only people that could maybe upend that are the lemmy devs themselves, and it isn’t like lemmy is impossible to fork. I couldn’t do it, but there’s plenty of folks that can. And, let’s be real, those guys may be on the radical end of their political beliefs, but everything they’ve done so far points to them handling the project in a very socialist way. They could have forced the entire thing into an echo chamber instead of making it open source. They could have built in controls that would give them the ability to screw with instances remotely, but didn’t.
So, nah, power mods aren’t going to be a thing on lemmt any time soon. When it does happen, it’ll be on single instances and rapidly handled.
That does mean we need many instances, and always be creating new ones. We should never settle on one instance. There should always be alternative versions of each sub/community/magazine, just in case power mods become insane at one of them.
BNC is the one. No idea how this response is that far down and people are saying stuff like “USB-C”. I guess people have no experience with the wonder that is a BNC connector…
While not the purpose of this community, make sure you go into your lemmy settings and have any languages you want enabled. The UI isn’t very clear so also make sure “undetermined” is selected along any other languages you’d like to see.
This is most likely the reason why you’re seing only 1 post when logged in. Have Undetermined selected in Settings and always post as Undetermined, no matter wich language you post in.
On Facebook I collect posts like this as a demonstration of how seemingly harmless questions are the answers to security questions. This one is basically code for “What is your favorite movie.”
