YoMismo, in People from the "hotter" regions, how do you deal with the heat?

North africa here, we are between air conditioning, fans, drink water and pray it ends fastly, in my country our problem is more energetical, more demand less production.

influence1123, in Anyone remember this ??

No clue.

While it’s interesting, it’s still more of a support question. Please check the sidebar for communities where you’d get more answers.

Fan + spray bottle filled with room temperature water. Divine

NewNewAccount,

Are you in a humid area?

queermunist,
@queermunist@lemmy.ml avatar

Actually yes - it’s definitely less effective when the humidity is super high, but usually on those days the temperature is also lower. Still works if the fan is strong enough.

Refefer, in People from the "hotter" regions, how do you deal with the heat?

Air conditioning and swimming pools

user1919, in People from the "hotter" regions, how do you deal with the heat?

fan and cooler during dry heat, onlyfans during humid heat after rain, get cotton vest for upper body and cotton bermuda shorts, get external keyboard and a laptop stand with fans for laptop.

WhyIDie,

ah, that was my problem, I was using onlyfans regardless of the weather

playxdestroy,
@playxdestroy@lemmy.ml avatar

honestly i wouldn’t masturbate during humid heat after rain

30isthenew29,

Before it I would say, so you can wash all the cum away.

hglman,

Don’t wear pants! It amazes me how people from colder climates don’t dress for the heat.

You must wear loose-fitting closes that allow breezes to pass through the material. In the sun, you must cover your skin and keep your clothes open.

torknorggren, in What are some useful or just cool stuff to memorize?

ArtificialLink, in People from the "hotter" regions, how do you deal with the heat?

Lots of fans.

greendakota99,

So many solutions and yours is Onlyfans?

ArtificialLink,

Its effective and relatively cheap.

30isthenew29,

Only fans.

pete, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I'm trying to stay away and I do feel like there is a reasonable chance I might be able to.
I recently subscribed to a Lemmy "self-hosted" and "asklemmy" group and content is starting to trickle in real good.

Mostly I feel it's a matter of consolidating Lemmy groups with the same topics into super-groups. This should help with general useability as well as making things more friendly for people moving over from Reddit.
Federation support for other Fediverse products towards Lemmy also will need some work still.

pjhenry1216, in How can I back up a community I mod?

Setup your own instance (don't even need to allow other members), create the community there. Then just create some alt accounts on other instances that you think would be interested in your community. Subscribe to your community from those instances to at least get your stuff to appear. Than hope for the best.

collegefurtrader,

Oh so that will push the content to the ALL feed on the other instances right?

croobat, in What are your favorite "ugly" games?
@croobat@lemmy.world avatar

Some people find Slay the Spire’s art ugly. Personally I find it creative and original, definitely more personality than if it was just another pixel art game. 😁

dumpsterlid,

I don’t find Slay The Spire that ugly artwise, I don’t find it beautiful… but what I do find ugly is how terribly Slay The Spire uses screen space. It has an AWFUL UI in terms of using space intelligently for important bits of gameplay information and I would love to play it on mobile (I play other deckbuilders on mobile a lot) but I will never touch it on mobile for that reason.

croobat,
@croobat@lemmy.world avatar

Really? Why do you say so? I always found it pretty usable, in mobile some buttons being so near the edges can be pretty uncomfortable tho.

If an instance shuts down, there’s still cached copies of the community out there in the fediverse.

e-ratic,
@e-ratic@kbin.social avatar

Only on instances where at least one user has subscribed from that instance

001100010010,
@001100010010@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Welp, time to set up accounts on those instances then.

HobbitFoot, in How can I back up a community I mod?

Right now, no.

The best you could do is try to archive the updates on an instance you control, but that is going to require you running an instance, writing custom code, and possibly breaking any GDPR protections you might have by not cross-honoring deletions.

There is a reason why a lot of Reddit subs who want to make their own Lemmy community create their own instances.

peereboominc, in How can I back up a community I mod?

Can’t answer it but isn’t the whole thing backed up (synced) to other instances? If I’m browsing lemmy.world community on my lemm.ee account, I’m actually only fetching data from lemm.ee. Only downside is that if there is an instance started after the community got lost, it will not have that community synced.

jayknight,

Do federated instances keep everything forever from communities someone is subscribed to? Or do they just keep a temporary cache that they can drop after no one has accessed it in a while?

BaskinRobbins, in What series did you rewatch most often?
  • Peep Show
  • IT Crowd
  • IASIP
  • The Wire
  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Gurren Lagann
  • Hunter x Hunter
bour,

Peep show for life!

Transcendant,

That scene where Jez ‘forgets’ the Christmas turkey still makes me laugh till I have tears in my eyes, no matter how many times I watch it. When someone misunderstands me and starts ranting, I usually reply “It was a joke, Mark. A christmas joke.” I’m sure 99% of the time people have no fucking clue what I’m referring to

BaskinRobbins,

Haha that’s my favorite scene! “What!? No turkey?!”
