What app do you use for Mastodon?

I've been wanting to check out Mastodon and a good app helps me be more engaged. My issue is that there are lots of interesting apps so I don't which one to pick! Which one do you like and why?

Android is preferred, but feel free to suggest iOS apps for others to use. Websites are also fine, but I'd like to install it as a PWA if possible.

Tusky for me as well. It works just fine imo.

The official web client works very well as a PWA on mobile.

The official native apps are also an option, but are controversial for a number of reasons. I don’t use it, but from what I’ve heard Tusky is a very popular alternative.

I use the official Mastodon app. It’s pretty good, stable, and fast.

I used to use tusky when I made my account way back and I remember that being good. After returning this year I decided to buy fedilab and it's very good.

I’m using Tusky, I switched to it some months ago from the official Mastodon app; but I don’t remember exactly the missing feature that forced me to switch ahahah

Anyway I am really liking Tusky, it looks modern, clean, fast and personally I did not find any relevant bugs in it.

I bet it is the same reason that I had: can't follow or unfollow tags from official app (or atleast I haven't found a way to do so, please help).

    shapesandstuff,

    Ohhh other apps support that?

It was kind of the mastodon dealbreaker for me. No continuous feed based on tags or topics, hard to find people, and some buggy scrolling

Yup! Tusky for sure, don't know about the other apps. The official app is great but missing many features still. Give Tusky a go if you decide to try Mastodon again!

Tusky user here as well. I've been using it before there was an official app and it's pretty great. Kinda miss their old logo though haha

    Machinist3359,

I use Tusky on my phone but Trunks on my eink tablet. Really none of the apps are "good" on eink, but Trunks is the most usable.

    nguarracino,

I’m very happy with Trunks. I use it on Android and web, and there is also an iOS version.

I second trunks, i like it. There are a couple things that take extra taps but it's worth trying. Web app for desktop too

    sporez,

When I was on Android I could never find one I really loved. Trunks came the closest. On iOS Ivory and Mona are both amazing. Mona has a one time purchase so if you’re allergic to subscriptions that’s the way to go.

On my Android 'phone I just use the official app from the Play Store, it fulfills my needs. There are no ads, which was the reason I wouldn't use the official app for Twitter.

I like Tusky. It just works, but it also has a nice feature that lets you open posts from whichever accounts you have set up with a couple of taps. In the official app you have to switch accounts and then find the post again, which is a pain. I have two Mastodon accounts so this feature is convenient to me.

I also like Tusky for Mastodon because you can also use it to open up your Pixelfed account.

I wish it had support for Lemmy accounts, too!

Another Tusky user here. I like it a lot.

Megalodon! It's an open source fork of the official Mastodon app, but with extra features. The latest update even has threaded replies. Get it on F-droid or the store.

I use Tusky. Have tried several others, but always came back to Tusky as it fits my needs perfectly.

I like Fedilab. It's open source and supports other accounts like Pixelfed, Peertube, Friendica, and is planning to add Calckey. I also like how it has colored lines to show deeper threads.

I've also tried out Tusky and a couple of forks of the offical app like Moshidon and Megalodon and they all seem pretty good.

I use subway tooter. It is feature-packed and have strong tool to crossposting across different accounts. But its interface is not that pretty and confusing for first timer. Not recomended for casual users. But if you run several mastodon account at once, it has great tools to make your life easier.
