Ludrol, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?
@Ludrol@szmer.info avatar

Yes, I have coal furnace + boiler as a central heating installation.

NegentropicBoy, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?

Worked at a coal mine. The dust can be very flammable.

Son_of_dad, in How do I stop a crush from developing further?

All this advise is making me realize it wasn’t just a crush.

I’ve not seen her for years, I try my best to have contempt for her, I don’t look her up or make any sort of contact. She’s dead as far as I know, and that’s kinda how it feels. But I think about her often, I think about the regrets. It’s been years of no contact and I’m still mourning losing this “crush”

Treczoks, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?

Yes. Grew up in a house without central heating. Learned to build up and maintain fire in an oven as a kid.

jadelord, in What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

Taxes! But different. This channel is very informative:

The first Episode of Sabrina Live! is called How the Rich Don’t Pay Taxes. All the rich need to do is use three simple steps: “Buy, Borrow, Die.” In this episode, Rich Kid attempts to buy a $50 video game after purchasing a $1 Pokemon card. He then leaves his Pokemon card to his son - Rich Kid II.

  • FIST_FILLET,

    alright very legit account created today, good one

    Duamerthrax,

    How edgy. His art is boring to me and in a blind review, critics said his art had a profound disinterest in other human beings.

    Taleya, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?

    Yes. Steam train

    AA5B, (edited ) in Anyone else do "last chance socks"?

    Depends on whether the socks are paired up. If I grab a pair, I feel like I’m committed so this is their last chance (assuming I remember at the end of the day). If a sock was just thrown in the drawer and I still need to search for a pair, it goes immediately

    Atin, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?

    Yes. I got to look around a steam train when they were doing trips for Father’s Day. I even got to keep a piece as a momento.

    Yes. In the Aga at home and the coal fire in the living room. Also in the grate at a friend’s house.

    Why? Aga for cooking and hot water, coal stove for heat, likewise coal in a grate.

    ETA: coal as in Anthracite, Stove Esse, Stove Nuts. Not charcoal or coke. The latter two I have cooked on and forged metal with respectively.

    RedStrider, in What software do you wish that existed?
    @RedStrider@lemmy.world avatar

    a good themeable rss widget for android. i’d like to get rid of google news but it does everything better.

    the one i use is FeedR but it

    • only displays titles in this tiny font
    • you have to open the app to open a link
    • doesn’t fit in with the materal you look
    • and doesn’t mix feeds together with an algorithm.

    at least it integrates with pocket and feedly

    JimmyChanga, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?

    Where the fires were was around the North and North East of Scotland. Coal man used to come round in a truck, filthy black from the coal, load up the bunkers. I remember it being very messy, sooty, but it was less smokey than the peat fires, though coal didn’t smell as nice. There is something really nice about a real fire, though they’re not clean. I doubt many of any of those houses have now, gas came along and there was a lot of change.
