Dave2D - Not a huge creator, but he lived in a van and made videos mocking other van-lifers who did the glamping thing and only showed the positive side of van life, not the negative side where you poo in a bucket and live in fear of a crackhead breaking into your car while youre asleep in it.
One of the glam-van-life couples broke up and he made a video publically mocking them. Then the girl killed herself. There was a huge shitstorm in the vanlife community and he ended up deleting almost all his content. Now he mostly does fantasy artwork livestreams.
I’m not an expert, but there’s a huge difference between USB cables. Requirements for a mouse are pretty low, so it could be a cheap cable poorly shielded and thin wires.
A good USB cable however should be fine, as it’s shielded from full speed and above.
I’m guessing that everything above low speed is OK. But I would avoid low speed, and that could include your mouse cable, but you can see when you cut it, whether it’s shielded or not.
I have, unlike the other comment, no idea what you want/can do or what “audio cable” you mean. But the answer is yes, both as in using the wire with and without the original USB connections. You can use essentially any wir for audio, or is essentially DC, so unlike wires that carry information (USB, HDMI, …) there is no need for shielding etc
Professional audio engineer. What matters is the capacitance and ohmage of the cable. USB cable tends to be really bad on that front but if it’s a short run, the worst that you’ll have is some diminished highs and some hiss.
Why are you against learning the language of the place where you want to go? Immigrating is hard, and it’s even harder if you’re in a new place by yourself and can’t even speak the local language. You’re going to struggle a lot that way.
Well at the end of the day it’s just all wire, a knife and a soldering iron you can change them out however you like. But I’m assuming that’s not what you meant.
There are adapters, startech makes a bunch of different kinds. So you could use a USB adapter over the USB extension cable.
Historically people would use stereo wire for stuff like that.
Here are a few that I find have consistent high quality content:
The B1M… His videos seem to really get into the nitty gritty logistics of various large construction projects.
Caitlin Doughty (Ask a Mortician)… I feel like each video is better than the previous. The historical death documentaries are incredible.
Climate Town… Videos about climate change & has a really fun sense of humor.
Neo… Lots of really cool explanatory videos. The editing is really good as well! The recent video on the presidential motorcade was very cool.
And one more… Reckless Ben… IDK if it really fits within the prompt of this thread… The channel is tough to watch with all the annoying humor & there is a lot of hit-or-miss videos, but at least lately, it seems to really be doing some very interesting things. I enjoyed his series on mckamey manor.
I use the “newpaper”. It de-sensationalizes the titles, and provides a weekly (free) or daily ($) email summarizing a bunch of newsworthy events in a categorized fashion.
RedLetterMedia - Got pretty big on YouTube about 15 years back for their review of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, where they made an actual, honest critique of why the film (and later the other prequel films) didn’t really work on their own merits and hid it inside a 1.5-hour skit about an elderly serial killer. They’re, uh… they’re not for everyone, but I like them. Also, Macaulay Caulkin as a recurring guest star. Worth your time. Technology Connections - Did you ever want to know why ceiling fans start at max power when you turn them on? Because I already knew before I clicked on the video and I still watched the whole damn thing. I swear this person could make ANYTHING sound interesting, no matter how dry.
They’ve been mentioned already but Second Wind - I mean, Yahtzee Croshaw pretty much picked up his fanbase and moved it here when his bosses at The Escapist made the boneheaded move to fire, uh… his boss? I think? I don’t watch a whole lot of the other stuff, but I haven’t had any complaints about anything of theirs I’ve watched. Project Farm - This dude legit goes out with his own money, buys like 8 different items in the same category (mainly tools, though his most recent video is on space heaters) and subjects them all to fairly rigorous testing to see which one is the best for the money. If I’m looking to buy something, I’ll check and see if Project Farm has a video on it first. LGR (Lazy Game Reviews) - I think someone already mentioned this as well, but I thought I’d bring it up too. The channel covers more than just games now and just covers all kinds of (mainly 80s/90s) computer tech. Plus, Clint’s a good dude. Colin Furze - He’s a bit extra but he started making Wolverine claws in his little garage workshop and now he’s building a “secret” tunnel under his house. Following this man’s videos are wild. He basically says “what if (crazy idea)” and then just… does it.
edit: omg how did I forget DankPods? Of course he has like five channels now. He’s got a masters in music, he made a living playing jazz drums, he started a dumb YouTube channel about fixing iPods, and now he has a warehouse where he plays drums and games and fixes cars and all kinds of shit. Wade is great.
Colin Furze is a perfect example for this post! I completely agree! He’s basically producing the same type of content that he’s been doing for years now. He even has a second channel now with deeper dives into his tunnel making videos, etc.
I prefer the older videos with less/no post production effects. I tried watching the interview with Elijah Wood but the fading video overlapping, music, zoom ins/outs, the voice echoing, and I couldn’t deal with these stupid transitions. Closed the video and haven’t got back since. The channel has one job and that is to make people eat progressively hot wings but the stupid post production effects ruin the video quality and make the whole interview less engaging. COOL IT SEAN!
Their content is good but how it’s presented is garbage.
I feel like Sean’s interviewing has gone down too. He used to be so good about asking unique and interesting questions you wouldn’t hear elsewhere. Now he seems to like to interject his own thoughts and anecdotes, way too often.
I never really enjoyed his interview style, granted I only watched some of the later episodes but it never really got me. Quite monotone voice and very rehearsed feeling questions.
Is it “controversial” to be a plagiarist now? Depending on how it’s done, it’s edging on a crime or a full blown crime, rather than controversy. I don’t really think there’s much to make an dispute about.
That said there’s certainly a lot drama about her, not that I’ve looked at any of it. So I am not in the know of anything that’s going on, beyond the plagiarism.
I just started getting into Illuminaughtii when the controversy started. I stopped watching her, but was on the fence because at the time, ONLY drama channels were talking about her. The easiest info to find all had a profit motive for her to be wrong. Now that the issue has expended to a wider area, it’s pretty clear that she is a plagiarist.
There’s a lot of legal stuff and then generally the way she treats people (especially people who were supposed to be her friends, employees or housemates) is pretty controversial, but technically not illegal yet. She tried to take Oz’s house away from him through convoluted legal practices and used her power over him to turn him in to a slave.
The way she treats people isn’t “controversial”, either. Being a shit stain of a person isn’t controversial just because it hasn’t crossed the line into being illegal.
What you mean to say is that she’s polarizing, because she has fans that don’t realize she’s an awful person.
She gives rise to public disagreement, I think she fits the controversial definition as well, but I didn’t realize I was supposed to be pedantic when I comment.
Jimmy Dore. Started watching in 2015. He was consistently about progressivism and brought awareness to causes such as Medicare for All. As the channel grew, he slowly became more deranged. COVID came and he found a larger audience spouting anti-vax dog whistles. The channel is now tabloid anti-vax, pro-putin, hot garbage.
