Though this reminds me that I remember getting my first skis. But don’t remember learning to ski in particular. Skis and snow has just always been there. I think I know where they are still today.
Dr Angela Collier, acollierastro, does really fun casual conversational videos on the topic that explain topics in a good approachable way. They're not going to be an efficient way to learn, but they've got a pleasant vibe
You need to wash your hair. Your hairs have tension at the scalp because of a build up of body goo preventing them laying flat. Pain goes away if you wash your scalp.
I dramatically strain for something that’s too high up for me to reach it. Pretend to try and weild the force to pull it towards me. And then wait until my very tall partner just comes along to grab it.
I was in Germany working on a cruise ship that was being finished up in the Bremerhaven dry dock when I was 19, it was after work and a bunch of us went out and got drunk as we did and while coming back after all our fun, we passed by a roll-up door that had “einfahrt” painted in huge block letters on it. One of the people in our group looks at it, points at yells “I fart too, but I don’t brag about it!”
Definitely the highlight of the trip.
I also remember hanging out at the bar that was on the docks having dinner and some of the other people on my ship were trying to ask where the bathroom was and the waitress and bartender didn’t understand a single way they were putting it until the guy was like “Ok, I’m sorry this may be a little crude but it’s the only way left I know how I might ask… Where can I take a scheisse?” Turns out they call it “water closet” (bathroom is just labeled “WC”) and that was the one term none of us had ever heard before.
As a petite woman it’s embarassing but buying kids clothes (especially if you’re going for the basic look and no printed design). One is clothes can be expensive and two I just noticed that the quality of kids clothes are thicker and it feels right.
I was outdoors with my girlfriend and I commented on the cute prints in the dirt of flowers. Turns out her shoes were purchased in the kids department. You could tell by looking at them, until she left tracks.
I forgot about the kid’s shoes trick. It can be hit or miss…sometimes kid’s shoes aren’t made as well as they’re expected to be outgrown. But sometimes the toe boxes are bigger, which I appreciate because it sucks looking for 5 wide women’s. (And size 3 men’s isn’t always available.)
Can we switch accounts please?/s
Actually in one of the replies a person mentioned that it might be because of the mod actions not federating properly to kbin/mbin, and it's actually sounds as a logical reason, especially if you say that you haven't seen what I'm describing.
Two of my favorites are already up. Here’s some more.
Professor Carolin Crawford’s Gresham stint is my all-time favorite astronomy lecture series. It’s somewhat outdated, especially on the topic of Pluto, but fundamentally, it’s outstanding.
I grew up with a lot of snow, skiing, etc in the PNW. As an adult I moved to Palm Springs, where my daughter was born. She and my friends had never seen snow, so one day I thought it’d be great to show everyone. We took the tram up to the top of Mt San Jacinto, where there was about a foot of fresh snow.
I loved watching them marvel at how oddly cold and bright the ground was. They tried and failed to copy me making snowballs, like it was some alien magic trick. I ran ahead and made a sliding jump down a small slope, then stopped and turned around, waiting for them to follow. They did, one at a time, and every one of them slipped and dramatically wiped out trying to navigate the slope. Gods, they just kept. coming. down.
I was horrified that I’d accidentally set them up to go careening everywhere, but the sight was too hilarious and I could only double over and belly laugh as they all crashed about like lemmings on ice!
It’s the same as anywhere. FWIW obviously inflammatory stuff gets removed from !android under rule 9. Disagreements are okay, but folks are expected to keep things civil. Also an issue for kbin/mbin is that moderator removals aren’t federated probably to/from Lemmy.
If you use the spammers from the last two days as evidence for mod actions federation, those actions were not really federated (I know for sure that admin ones are not between Lemmy instances, let’s not even ask K/mbin), it was more than everyone was blocking the accounts on every instance.
What’s different about Lemmy compared to other sites? The Palestine/Israel conflict is the main topic point today. Everyone is talking about it everywhere, whether it be Reddit or Twitter. Are you up to date on the news?
I know it is the main political discourse, and yes I know how many attention it gets
But I don't see much attention to it outside of the political circles neither on Twitter or on Reddit outside of a few specific exceptions
Maybe you’re not subscribed to many places, I see it everywhere in my feeds. For what it’s worth I rarely see it on Lemmy outside of meme and politics communities.
On social media I usually have 2 accounts
1 political and 1 apolitical one, with different following and interactions in general.
On my apolitical accounts even if I got such content in first week or two when everyone were talking about it I stopped getting it on my feeds since then.
One of commenters pointed that it might be a problem with mod actions federating then, even tho I'm not sure if that's the reason.
