    theKalash, in About cheese

    Stop buying cheap cheese.

    Slow,

I would be happy to buy only high-quality, expensive products)

    fiat_lux, in About cheese

Possibly the starter lactic acid bacterial culture, lactobacillus helveticus. It's known for giving cheeses a slight sweetness. Honey has a bunch of different acids in it, composition differs by source, but there's a good chance that's what the flavor similarity you're noticing is.

    amio, in About cheese

It could be perfectly benign, you just pick up on new flavor notes after eating the same thing for a while. Your first chili is not going to be too fruity, because it's busy tasting like burning. Your first cup of coffee might not be very pleasant because coffee-naive people typically only taste the bitter at first. Maybe some flavor compound in the cheese is also in honey. It's unlikely anyone should add honey, and then it'd be on the label.

On the other hand, it's very common for infections (COVID, especially) to mess up your sense of taste and smell. It could make almost anything smell like almost anything.

One thing to try if it's obviously not an infection is "just buy better cheese" and see if there are still unexpected flavors.

    Also, what kind?

    Slow,

Of course, there are varieties of cheese that do not cause any complaints. They’re just more expensive.

    Thanks for the detailed comment!

    devious, in About cheese

Maybe all this time your honey actually tasted like inexpensive cheese and you have just picked up on it?

Moghul, in What are some activity examples that train finger or hand dexterity?

Thorny_Insight, in What do you like about the vehicle you drive and would you have changed anythin about it?

2007 Nissan Navara King Cab (like Frontier in the US but diesel)

It’s a two seat, 4x4, all black pickup truck. Other than the few mechanical issues with it, I have no complaints. It’s basically my dream car and I truly don’t even know if there’s any other truck I’d rather have. Even the newer model is a bit meh and comes with all sorts of electronics I don’t need.

    morphballganon,

Other than the few mechanical issues with it

Those would probably qualify as what OP is asking about. What might be a minor nuisance to you could be a deal-breaker for someone not mechanically inclined.

    Thorny_Insight,

There’s always mechanical issues with a 15 year old car. That’s why they cost 10k and no 50. I can use the savings to pay for a mechanic.

If there’s anything I’d change about it I understood he meant stuff like adding a lift kit and a front diff lock

I have a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country and my dad has a 2018 Ford Fiesta. I drive both pretty regularly.

I prefer the Fiesta. The T&C is a fucking piece of shit. The only thing I don’t like about the Fiesta is the same problem I have with every Ford I’ve ever driven: The steering is stiff and the pedals are sensitive af. But I prefer an overly sensitive brake to the one in the T&C that feels super weak even when pressing the pedal to the floor. When I wanna stop, I wanna know I’m able to.

NeoNachtwaechter, in When I get a lack of sleep, I often have a splitting headache the next day. Other people never get any headaches. What's wrong with me?

When I get a lack of sleep (…), I often have a splitting headache the next day

This connection is typical for migraine.

Also, many people sleep with a too thick pillow, and this could also cause headaches because of tensions. Try a thin one, or only a little towel instead of a pillow.

    PlogLod,

I actually don’t use any pillow (I just prefer lying flat on a mattress), could that be a problem?

    CaptainPedantic,

I’m interested in your pillow thickness comment. Do you have any more information about that, like a study?

I used to sleep on a very thin pillow since I was a stomach sleeper. As I’ve aged, I end up on my side and back more, and I had to get a thicker pillow.

    NeoNachtwaechter,

    a study?

I’m not living in that country.

    starkzarn,

    Lolwut.

Does your holier-than-thou country not believe in peer reviewed science?

    mranachi,

Might not be able to afford it?

    starkzarn,

Sure, but no one asked about studies from a specific country, we just got an unsolicited “tut tut” for no reason. I can live in Germany and read Canadian articles all I want. This particular poster just doesn’t have an open mind about the world.

    lazylion_ca,

Get yourself one of these. Adustable to however thick you like just by adjusting the water.

    can,

Can that handle a cat’s claw?

    lazylion_ca,

    Probably not.

    can,

    Dammit

    PlogLod,

I’ve always wondered what stomach sleepers do with their face. Like don’t you end up being unable to breathe or rubbing your nose and mouth on the blankets? Also is your neck not crooked to compensate for that?

I wish I were able to sleep on stomach or back so that I could sleep symmetrically, I think it would be better for me if I could fall asleep that way. But the sleep just doesn’t come… unless I’m sideways in a fetal position, and only on one side (left side).

    CaptainPedantic,

When I was a kid, I somehow managed to breathe through my pillow. Or I’d prop up my forehead on the pillow and rest my chin on the mattress which left enough room to breathe.

Now as an adult, when I do sleep on my stomach, my head is turned to the side. My neck is horribly crooked, but that doesn’t seem to bother me. In fact, when I fall asleep, I apparently roll onto my back, and tilt my head to the side (perpendicular to the rest of my body). My wife has told me I’m a creepy sleeper since it looks like my neck is broken or is at an absurd angle. I somehow never wake up with neck pain.

TexMexBazooka, in What do you think about Lemmy, so far?

It’s alright. Doesn’t replace what I got from Reddit but I also use it less and it’s only form of social media so that’s a plus.

The political environment is rough. Lemmygrad and hexbear are toxic cesspools, which is unfortunate because I would genuinely like to engage with their political ideology more seriously but it’s inevitably drowned out by… well… them.

I’ve blocked most of the top posters over there and things are much more peaceful, if quiet.

There’s still a lack of content creators out there, which is an issue. Growth is going to be a problem because, to be blunt? Lemmy is dogshit before you block all the spam, political shitposting, and those fucking Reddit repost bots.

Until the new user experience is cleaned up I don’t expect Lemmy to gain users on average. I’ll probably spin up my own instance in AWS at some point to play with it, or self host on some inexpensive hardware.

Tl;Dr: I get what I want from it but don’t see it having healthy long term growth

    wombatula,

Seriously though, they act just like the T_D crowd from reddit, but at least there it was easier to avoid them (and they actually started banning them eventually). I am legitimately convinced that there is a huge overlap in members, they never cared about politics just about being hateful, they wore a right wing mask on reddit and they wear a left wing mask here.

iturnedintoanewt, in What cheap tool/gadget do you use that greatly improves your daily life?
    @iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee avatar

USB cables with LCD displays. Now i can easily understand if a device is properly using QC or PD when charging, or whether there is an issue.

Drusas, in What is the most promising pathway to reach universal healthcare?

Revolution, probably. We are too oppressed by the ruling class.

Brkdncr, in What is the most promising pathway to reach universal healthcare?

    Massive unemployment.

morphballganon, in What do you like about the vehicle you drive and would you have changed anythin about it?

At that cost, either move closer to work or get a job closer to home.

thelsim, in How do you spend your idle time?
    @thelsim@sh.itjust.works avatar

Depends on how much idle time there is.
For short periods I spend my time just staring in the distance and letting my thoughts wander.
Commuting is spend either reading or here online. Maybe a Youtube video once in a while for diversity.
For lunch breaks and other spare moments I have a small sketchbook where I like to draw whatever comes to mind.
