Sagifurius, in What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

They wouldn’t exist if the currency wasn’t worthless, maybe linking cash to reality again would fix it? The real terms richest man corrected, even today, was a Roman so just get us back on gold.

Tarquinn2049, in Liftoff alternative

I’m also still on liftoff, and I really like it. I guess I’ll have to try each of the ones listed here, but definitely gonna also keep liftoff in case the dev manages to find the time to catch back up at some point.

rony4102, in What software do you wish that existed?

A goddamn pdf editor for Android

DingoBilly,

I just checked the store and there’s a bunch of pdf editors you can DL for Android? What is the issue?

rony4102, (edited )

Essentially a foss solution, which doesn’t suck all other editors suck including the one on playstore.

PS : I learnt today that PDF is proprietary technology

barryamelton, (edited ) in What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

Tax the income of corporations not the profit. The same way you get taxed your VAT. That means that corporations can’t tax evade: if they make income in a country, they get taxed. They can’t go an declare the profit in the Netherlands or Ireland and skip paying taxes.

Create and use parallel institutions to allow society to thrive without needing to play the billionares economy game. Example: communication tools outside of a market involvement such as Lemmy, Element (matrix). Economy tools. Association tools. See the application of Dual Power by socialists, which is what you are proposing here, a redistribution of power and wealth.

Vote for those pushing for these.

This is brilliant in its simplicity.

Contramuffin, in Nerds, I need ideas for my college project that should resemble the below GitHub project - Event Planner.

Pro tip: if you want to ask for help, it’s not a good idea to disparage the people who are supposed to help you immediately before you ask for help

Clent, in Anyone else do "last chance socks"?

Nope, straight into the garbage. I have a garbage in my bedroom.

Like others I have many socks of the same type. Why would I wear a sock that has failed in its purpose?

Same with underwear.

You people need to get your lives in order.

victorz,

You people need to get your lives in order.

A bit over the top given the context lol.

I mean, I’m the same. They have a whole? I’ll throw them away. But I don’t immediately consider people who wear socks with holes in them not to have their lives in order provided with only that info about them.

Shayreelz,

I think they were being hyperbolic

Clent,

Yes. I refuse to tag my sarcasm.

I’m kinda surprised you can see us peasants from that high horse.

intensely_human,

You people need to get your lives in order.

Says the guy with garbage in his room

morphballganon,

Having a garbage in your bedroom is much better than having many of the same socks

rekabis, in What software do you wish that existed?

A Windows Explorer replacement that is,

  1. Very simple in its base install (almost no features beyond what the Windows XP file Explorer would contain),
  2. With an plug-uns system to enable/disable/add features for those who would want to customize the functionality, and
  3. implements Miller Columns, just like Mac OS, as one of its built-in functions.
KyuubiNoKitsune,

Miller Columns

I find this objectively better: bibliotekarien.se/en/blog/traedvy-i-utforskaren

Daeraxa,

I know it doesn’t tick the boxes but there technicality is a Microsoft made, open source, alternative to Explorer. The original File Manager for Windows 3.1 and it is still seeing active development. Just thought to bring it to attention for a bit of nostalgic fun but I actually find myself using it a fair bit.

thrawn, in Lemmy, is there a treasured piece of content that you stop yourself from going back to "too often" so as to not dilute it?

This makes me realize that I have a huge list of things I should see/do, but have been putting off because I want to enjoy them at their max. Then I find myself never feeling ready enough. Some of the ones from this thread I’ve been meaning to check out for years:

  • Inside
  • Bojack
  • the video “Leroy Jenkins”. I have no idea what it even means, but I’ve seen references to it for well over a decade.
  • Halo: Reach
  • ME: Legendary, I did download this one a couple years ago, so I’m further on it than anything else
  • Firefly

Anyway, the ones I try not to oversaturate are the best episodes of Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Particularly Charlie Work, which I’ve only seen once.

  • skozzii,

You have to be pure evil to be a billionaire, sitting on that much wealth with so many suffering in the world you can easily help. They are psychopaths if you think about it.

    I’m down with the guillotine.

    TokenGingerGuy, in Let's get raunchy

In her dorm with her roommate possibly asleep? We just went for it

    raef,

I know the intent. Remember visiting the parents for the first time? What a nightmare that was. The one highlight was furious fucking in the bathroom while everyone watches wrestling or some dumb shit

Paragone, in How do I stop a crush from developing further?

2 methods that I can think-of that might work, quickly enough for you:

    1. deliberately develop a crush on someone else, like Lena Headey, or someone, whom you are not going to meet weekly, and
    2. deliberately imagine her having total romancing with someone whom you both respect, value, & wouldn’t violate-their-boundaries.

Obviously, combining these 2 methods would be stronger.

i_am_a_cardboard_box, in What software do you wish that existed?

An automated 3d modeling software with Ai implementation for dnd miniatures. Sort of hero forge combined with stable diffusion.

Ok, thanks to tips I’ve installed both summit and thunder. I like both, but they feel both a tad different.

    • I like the message list of thunder slightly better then the one in summit
    • I like the reply method of summit a tad better then the one in thunder

Both will stay and be tested. Thanks for the tips and I’ll continue testing and see what will be my main reader/posting app.

bartvbl, in Any good YouTube recommendations?
