lugal, in Why do christian apologists say the name of the person they're talking to so often?

Isa 43:1:

But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

I don’t think that’s the reason, just an association I had

Lately I’ve been obsessed with Tasting History with Max Miller. He recreates historic dishes while exploring the history surrounding it. Very bingeable

Modern_medicine_isnt, in What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

I don’t think movements succeed based on being organized. I think the core factor is people having nothing to lose.

DecarbonatedOdes,

That could be true. I’m only repeating what I heard en mass during the Occupy Protests of the perceived reason of failure.

june, in How do I stop a crush from developing further?

I’ve found that when I want to kill a crush I can start looking for characteristics I dislike. Everyone has them and early on in infatuation we gloss over them. But intentionally highlight them and that crush usually goes away pretty quick. Works for me anyway

JigglySackles,

Really? Man, I always thought it was to study their routines and plan the murder for when they are most alone and have the site and a grave prepared. Ideally away from prying eyes unless you like the thrill of getting caught or whatever…

But that aside, this is really solid advice. Nitpicking things you don’t like is a great option towards losing interest.

Am I the only one using Eternity here? codeberg.org/Bazsalanszky/Eternity

Octopus1348,
@Octopus1348@lemy.lol avatar

Yeah, it runs great in landscape. I used Infinity when I was still on Reddit but because Eternity didn’t come fast enough, I’m using Voyager now.

I use it.

beebarfbadger, in What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

No need, I’ve been hearing that it’s good when they get all the money shoved at them BECAUSE, and hear me out now, they may or may not choose to maybe trickle some of the wealth they don’t obsessively hoard or burn on pleasure trips into space back onto the population.

They’re bound to start doing that aaaaaany decade now…

EthosLab - the OG Minecraft Youtuber that other Minecraft Youtubers watch; somehow still innovating on redstone and technical builds to this day despite Minecraft redstone already pushed to its limits long ago, and his multiplayer shenanigans on Hermitcraft and Life Series is top notch.

Adam Ragusea - cooking videos made for actual home cooks who just want no-flair no-fuss recipes, as well as food science videos exploring and explaining different cooking methods and food chemistry. I’m particularly a fan of how he encourages you to measure and cook by feel rather than by strictly following recipes.

Its a domination game. Its condescending and testing your tolerance while maintaining plausible deniability.

Abucketofpuppies, in Why do christian apologists say the name of the person they're talking to so often?

Aside from it being a sales tactic, it’s also just a strategy to memorize people’s names. I use it often because I’m trying to be friendly, and I have slight face blindness.

wintermute_oregon,

Ironically I work in sales and rarely use names. I am shit with names.

ccunning,

OK, but how are you with sales?

wintermute_oregon,

Very good. Just funny it’s a common sales tactic that I don’t do because I can’t remember names

profdc9,

I want to take your course.

wintermute_oregon,

I teach new hires to my team on sales tactics. My background is in psychiatry/psychology.

It all boils down to being legit. Be you. Don’t be fake. Don’t lie.

Based on sales I typically outsell my peers 4:1. When I say a customer is a friend, that means we are friends.

After COVID people are looking for more authentic relationships. The dynamics have changed. They don’t want the fake sales person who just takes them to dinner. They want someone that has a real relationship with people, they enjoy spending time with and they trust.

The social isolation has caused people to seek true connections when they spend time with people.

u_tamtam, in Framework vs Macbook laptop?
@u_tamtam@programming.dev avatar

According to www.notebookcheck.net , a framework 13 with a Ryzen 7840U will run out of battery 22% faster than the macbook but will outperform the macbook by 85% on some benchmarks. I wouldn’t pick the mac.

clark,
@clark@midwest.social avatar

Would you recommend the Intel or AMD version? I’m not very updated on what distinguishes the AMD.

Blisterexe,

AMD is as fast in cpu, faster in GPU, and has(much) better battery life. At least until framework gets meteor lake

deegeese, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?

Don’t go to a lot of BBQs, I take it?

someguy3, (edited )

I’m talking real coal.

Kolanaki, (edited )
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Charcoal isn’t coal. There are several types of natural coal and charcoal, and they all have slight differences in density and chemical composition; so they probably all look a bit different when burning. Just like how different brands and types of charcoal can also look slightly different when burning (such as one kind throwing off sparks while it ignites and another that doesn’t).

I’ve never seen natural coal burning. But I’ve seen at least 3 types (not just brands but actual differences in how they are made) of charcoal burn, and they all give quite a different “show” as they do.

JimmyChanga, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?

A lot of homes where I grew up still had coal fires, so yes, a lot, but its been a long while since I have seen a coal fire. Charcoal as the other commenter said i still see regularly on bbq’s .

someguy3,

Where did you grow up?

GreyShuck, in Have you ever seen coal burn? If yes, why?
@GreyShuck@feddit.uk avatar

We used to have a coal fire when I was growing up, so routinely in the winters.
