Every proper restaurant is unique. I believe you are talking about fast-food joints.

OneWomanCreamTeam,

There are definitely non-fastfood chains.

Denny’s? iHop? Outback? Texas Roadhouse? Red Lobster? Hard Rock? Rainforest Cafe?

These are not “proper restaurants?” They’re certainly not fast food.

theohgee,

I don’t know that I would call any national chain a “proper restaurant” but maybe that’s just me.

Each community, at some point in time, has to have someone with severe a case of Main Character Syndrome make a post that refers to another post where their feelings got hurt cuz their initial post didn’t get the exact kind of attention they wanted, which then results in a total shit fit in the comments.

I’ve seen it happen numerous times in my short time on Lemmy. Especially on !memes.

People need to learn how to just suck it up and move on ffs. I swear it’s the r*dditard mentality leaking in here.

Reddit has this too. Especially on subs with younger audiences… Or really old entitled audiences.

Thorny_Insight, in People of Lemmy that take more than 5 seconds to start your car and drive, what are you doing?

Waiting for oil to reach the top of the engine

AceFuzzLord, in Do you have a favorite restaurant only available in your area?

I used to think we were the only place in the US to have a Rocky Rococo’s because it, as far as I’m aware, was the only one in the upper northwest of the country. But otherwise, I can’t really think of many places here that you can’t find anywhere else that I’ve actually gone to and know aren’t anywhere else.

I know my parents have been to local restaurants, but as far as I’m aware, I just can’t think of any that I’ve been to.

Furedadmins,

Yuck. They are local - literally founded here - and they are inedible. I don’t know how they ever spread that far.

AceFuzzLord,

Compared to the other pizza places in my hometown (Domino’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, etcetera) it’s literally the 2nd best chain restaurant pizza I’ve ever had.

fsxylo, in People of Lemmy that take more than 5 seconds to start your car and drive, what are you doing?

Taking a breather goddamn.

GasMaskedLunatic, in What show is as entertainingly bad as Fear The Walking Dead?

The Dynasty reboot.

cheese_greater, in Cat heaves and abdominal contractions even when relaxed, what think

So, to update, I notice when shes laying sprawled out on a blanket on my lap she has an almost permanent slight tensing contraction on the breath in. Like a fish’s gills or like its very rapid/jerky on the in-breath, I think

conciselyverbose, in People of Lemmy that take more than 5 seconds to start your car and drive, what are you doing?

well, I usually roll a few cigarettes for the road, put directions on Google maps, and adjust my seating/coffee/whatever else I need to be comfortable. In total it takes a minute or two.

letsgo, in What are Lemmy's unwritten rules?

Don’t know. I haven’t found them yet.

NotSpez,

What is… the hard way?

sugartits,

Printing out the source code and inserting it into yourself.

I don’t make the rules, just how it is.

glasgitarrewelt,

My father printed the GNU license 100 times, rolled it up and gave me a good beating with it. The only true way to learn about the four freedoms.

liberalism > conservatism

I don’t think you know what that word means. I can’t even enter a comment thread without someone arguing against liberalism

cashews_best_nut,

“Liberal” means different things dependent on the country.

TheSanSabaSongbird,

The word has different meanings in different contexts. That said, unless you’re a complete moron, it’s usually very easy to figure out what sense of “liberalism” is intended based on context.

What I have no patience for at all are the insufferable idiots who insist that only one definition is correct, and oh by the way, it just happens to be their definition.

Sequentialsilence, in Do you have a favorite restaurant only available in your area?

I live in a bit of a foodie town, so there’s too many to mention, but here are some of my favorites.

Codfather. Dude’s an immigrant from Scotland and was annoyed that there were no fish and chips restaurants here so he made one.

Dashi. Tagline is “Put a little Sriracha in your Sombrero.” It’s hispanic-asian fusion.

Vicious Biscuit. I’ve never seen them not have a line out the door. Really good biscuits with all kinds of toppings.

Boxcar Betty’s. It’s what Chik-Fil-A wishes it could be.

Rodney Scott’s, and Swig and Swine. 2 BBQ restaurants that have spoiled me for BBQ. I have to be careful how often I eat at one of these because it’s so good it’s hard to stop eating.

RememberTheApollo_, in What are Lemmy's unwritten rules?

We shall talk about communism and Linux.
