Nippledippers7, in What is your earliest memory?

I was 3 and I was sitting on the floor at my grandparent’s house. My mom and her mom were hugging and crying because my grandpa had recently passed away.

MossyFeathers, in What has been the best thing that has happened to you so far?

I got a steam deck recently. I can’t decide if this is one of the best or one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. I love it to death and I’ve been playing stuff with retrodeck almost non-stop since I got it, however, I’ve been playing stuff with retrodeck almost non-stop since I got it.

My daughter. Although she has a lot of issues and it has been a very hard road, she has made me a better person and a less angry person. She is definitely by far the best thing that ever happened to me. My biggest fear is outliving her.

My biggest fear is outliving her.

My dad used to say this all the time (he has long since passed). My sister nearly died about twenty years ago and one of the weird memories I have from the period is feeling so sorry for him.

Anyway I totally get it but do try not to obsess on it for what it’s worth.

I don’t obsess on it. Just every so often it comes into my thoughts and makes me very unhappy to think about.

CaptPretentious, in What's a food you love, that isn't worth making from scratch?

Lefsa.

Making it solo is a monstrous pain in the butt. It’s so easy to screw up too.

Fondots, in What is your earliest memory?

My earliest really solid memory was getting our first dog when I was about 3-4 years old. I remember odd bits and pieces from before then, but that’s probably the earliest thing I can conjur up in any significant detail. Things before that are just kind of brief flashes and glimpses with no real context, glimpses of preschool, Christmas, playing with different toys, etc. but I remember the days leading up to bringing her home very well, my mom finding a classified ad in the newspaper, she was advertised as a chocolate lab (she was white and gold, and maybe there was lab in her mix somewhere but that wouldn’t have been my first guess, didn’t matter once we met her, she meshed right into our family like she’d always been part of it)

Interestingly it’s also my sister’s earliest memory, she would have been about 2, so definitely a very important moment in both of our lives.

intensely_human, in Who doesn't use an adblocker and why?

I don’t use an adblocker when I browse in ios because I don’t know how to

yesman, in What are your best air fryer/oven recipes?

My best tip for air fryers is to use them for the second fry of foods that are double fried. Egg Rolls, Karage, Orange chicken, etc, honestly, The double fry method isn’t just for Asian food, it takes anything where crispiness is desirable to the next level.

Do the first low fry as normal, then use the air fryer for the second high-temp fry. You don’t have to worry about overcrowding as much, plus everything will be less greasy. The whole point of the second fry is to remove moisture and the air does this just as well as the grease.

Toes, in What is your earliest memory?

Pressing my face against a glass door and feeling how cold it was and seeing the outside world.

Kolanaki, in What is your earliest memory?
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

I remember walking around in the backyard during a party my parents were having. I couldn’t have been more than 3, since I had no siblings yet. It’s a super vague, and weird memory of basically nothing but one that has stuck with me since as long as I can remember.

eran_morad, in What has been the best thing that has happened to you so far?

Wife & kids

lseif, in What is your earliest memory?

all my memories pre-primary school (elementary school), i am convinced i just made up, as they are too foggy.

eran_morad, (edited ) in What is your earliest memory?

I was probably 3, i remember walking up to my great grandpa, who was seated, and putting my hands on his knees. My mom asking me if I knew who he was and i was like “yup, that’s grandpa Jim”.

Toes, in Will ublock Origin be blocked on chrome soon?💀💀💀

I believe some chromium based browsers will continue to support their own flavours of adblock.

But Firefox is the way to go

Aurix,

Firefox is a good browser and unfortunately the only fully independent one. But I also believe there might be a bigger Chromium development split happening. Nothing increases action and unites people like a monopoly pushing greed.

Telodzrum,

As long as it’s Blink, it’s not worth the time.

cley_faye,

the only fully independent one

ahem

Aurix,

Fair point, they receive Google money. But its technological backend is not bound to Chromium.

uBlock Origin works best on Firefox. If you’re going to use uBlock. Firefox is the best browser for it.

lseif, in What hobby do you have that no one else in your family shares?

translating garfield comics

Dozzi92, in What has been the best thing that has happened to you so far?

My life is one lucky decision after another and I couldn’t be happier with where I ended up. Fucked off in high school but somehow got into college (jk, I know how I got in ($$)), dropped out, fucked around, went to school for my current field literally to buy time, fucked around but got out, fucked around at work and decided to join the service. Fucking around was frowned upon so I finally turned it around. Came out, got better at civilian job, lived with friends from the service for one year in a town that happened to be like 25 miles from where my future wife was just finishing school, and so our dating profile search rings matched up for all of a couple months.

Bought a house months after meeting my future wife and it was she either moves home and we go long distance or she sticks around and figures out a rooming situation with her then roommates. That was a decade ago, and two kids, and I live on a block with seven or eight other young families in a walkable neighborhood, my kids will walk to school when they’re older, ride their bikes around, we hang out and socialize regularly with neighbors. And it’s all because I fucked around in high school.
