These are perfectly harmless and live in colonies. Used to have these around growing up and let them crawl all over my hands. Most spiders in Australia are harmless, there’s really only 2 or 3 types you need to worry about. Redback, funnel web and maybe white tip. The rest might hurt if they bite you, and of course an infection is possible if not cleaned but thats for any type of bite really.
I’m curious if you’ve ever held a guitar, or touched one as it was played? Acoustic guitars, especially when playing on the lower strings, vibrate quite a lot, sometimes it feels like a purring cat.
In the realm of low-stakes New Year’s resolutions, I’ve decided to approach things like a turtle: slow, steady, and deliberate.
One of my goals is to read a few pages before bed each night, embracing the tranquility of the night like a ghostly whisper weaving through the pages.
Another resolution involves culinary adventures—I plan to try a new recipe every month, daring my taste buds to dance to flavors they’ve yet to meet, maybe even conjuring a dish that turns a stinky apple into a delicious surprise. And to inject some movement into my work-from-home routine, I aim to take short walks during breaks, not as a sprint but as a turtle’s amble, allowing myself to soak in the world outside my screen.
These resolutions are gentle nudges toward a better self without the weight of undue pressure.
The wars in Iraq and in Afghanistan both earned the nickname Groundhog Day in reference to the 1993 Harold Ramis comedy since tours of duty got to be extremely routine, The Suck, day in and day out, so yes, looking at our lives, especially if you are in a toxic job that leaves you too hungry to quit and too exhausted to watch for better opportunities, using the term Groundhog Day to describe the day-after-day monotony is appropriate.
And the thing is, while we are quick to blame the individual for failing to find ambition to achieve a better life, it is a game of musical chairs. It is competing with your fellow citizen, that in order for your life to be made better through better work or better pay, others have to be left behind to do the job you are leaving. And more still are left without a job, to rot and be disregarded as a homeless burden on the system. The society of the US intentionally underserves the common family so that those who have jobs can be abused and are too afraid to blow whistles.
In September 2022, Mahsa Amini was attacked by the morality police for a hijab infraction and killed. When the state responded to the protests with violence, the people responded with riots, eventually setting fire to government buildings and attacking police stations as the agents of state were determined to respond only by escalating with greater violence. Amini’s death wasn’t the only matter, but just the latest in a long run of government failures.
Eventually, when enough people in the US suffer, we may turn violent too. And to suggest violent revolution or to suggest reprisal for wrongdoing by law enforcement or state agents will be unspeakable and taboo, until the very hour nothing short of of dissolution of the established norm will suffice.
I can’t say when that time will come, or even if it will affect mass change, or whether this is a right course of action, just that this is how the shit seems to go down: We suffer until we can’t stand it anymore. Lather, rinse, repeat with every New Boss until we see they’re all the Same As The Old Boss.
Beyond that, humankind hasn’t ever tread very far. Not that we know from history, at least.
Something like this might work. They are kind of expensive, and some are better made than others, but they come in handy and maybe you could borrow one from somebody. A landscaping company might have something like this too that they use to get fruit off of trees, or maybe a fire department has something like it. Possibly a pond and aquarium store has some equipment that could work since they need nets and tools for plants and rocks, or tools used for feeding aquarium animals and fish. There are some home improvement stores that let you borrow tools or rent tools, shop vacs, long handled gutter cleaners or painting tools etc.

It is practical as rocks should float in mercury and it is safe if you use elemental mercury and don’t eat it.
It isn’t environmentally fantastic and you would want to remove it with a vacuum trap, which does make it a less than ideal option compared to a shopvac.
My favorite time of day? It’s that serene moment in the early evening when the sky transitions into a canvas of pastel hues. It’s when I savor a slice of grape cheesecake, relishing the burst of flavors that dance on my taste buds. Amidst this tranquil time, my mischievous cat seems to shed a flurry of hair, marking its playful antics throughout the day. And in the distance, the rhythmic bleats of goats offer a soothing backdrop, a reminder of nature’s harmonious chorus. That’s when the day’s chaos settles, and a quiet calmness envelops everything.
But usually none of that happens, I’m snapped back to reality and begin my nightly cry.
the way i see it, the world may well end within our lifetime. when the credit card server farms collapse into the encroaching ocean it won’t matter anymore
Probably the movie Perfect Blue. I love creatively told, dark stories, and I love good animation, that movie expertly delivered on both and resonated with me.
