someguy3, (edited ) in A time traveller comes back from 50 years in the future. You have 3 hours with them. What do you do?

I say the cliche which stocks to invest in. They will know which companies are big at various times. Lotto numbers if they can get that. Blah blah blah.

After that I’m not sure I want to know the other things. It takes the fun out of life.

I mean there are things that you have to worry about like personal safety. I I doubt there will be another World War so I won’t have to worry about the draft or death. Maybe major disasters so I won’t be there. Civil unrest but I’m fortunate enough to live in Canada.

I don’t even wanna know how fucked up shit will be 50 years from now.

Tarquinn2049, in Which carbonated soft drink is the best?

Personally a “softer” root beer is generally my go-to.

I used to really like Canadian mountain dew before they were able to sell US mountain dew here and abandoned the Canadian one. It was so much better without caffeine. But that’s their whole gimmick. Except it sold totally fine in Canada without it.

captain_aggravated, in Are Americans more prone to conspiracy theories than people in other countries?
@captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works avatar

I think there may be a factor of sample size; There’s something like 40 million Canadians, 40 million Australians, 60 million British, and 340 million Americans. So if you take a random sample of English speech on any topic, it’s statistically most likely to be from an American.

catalog3115,

You forgot Russia, india & china

No I didn’t. India might be an asterisk.

dutchkimble, in A time traveller comes back from 50 years in the future. You have 3 hours with them. What do you do?

Ask them to get a sports almanac back, and new seasons of shows I’m waiting for, and perhaps a copy of GTA6 if it’s out by 2074

FluffyPotato, in Which carbonated soft drink is the best?

Georgia makes the best soft drinks in the world in my opinion. My personal favourite is pear flavoured Natakhtari: natakhtari.com/lemonade

Also fun fact: Lemonade means soft drink in a lot of places in the world, I hear that’s lemon flavoured water in the US.

finestnothing, (edited )

I thought you meant the state of Georgia in the US at first instead of the country Georgia, it made the rest of the comment very confusing

Can confirm, Lemonade in the US is lemon juice + water + a lot of sugar, no carbonation

FluffyPotato,

Oh right, I forgot it was a state in the US, it’s been like 20 years since my last geography class.

Daxtron2, in Which carbonated soft drink is the best?

I really enjoy olipop’s imitation dr pepper

Feathercrown, in What movies would you make if you had an AGI that could make any kind of media on demand?

You don’t need an AGI for this, just an AI-- it’s a specific task.

Kolanaki, in What movies would you make if you had an AGI that could make any kind of media on demand?

Remake Zootopia, but the nudist colony scene would have some additions.

waterbogan, in What experience crushed your soul?

Seven years in a relationship with an alcoholic. Leaving was the best and hardest thing I ever done

Rakonat, in Does AI-generated art posted on lemmy bother you?

To me, if they are contained to communities setup for AI generated images and there is some effort to mark or identify them as AI, I don’t mind them. Its when they get posted outside those spaces, especially posing as something someone made, that it gets very annoying.

Atin, in Which carbonated soft drink is the best?

Dr pepper, Portello or Pepsi Max.

Noodle07, in A time traveller comes back from 50 years in the future. You have 3 hours with them. What do you do?

Ask for the most recent version of dwarf fortress

Cosmicomical, in What are some food items that cost less than what they "should"?

Nice try, Davos

Chainweasel, in What salary do you think would make you happy?

Enough that I’m not completely broke before my next paycheck.
Seriously, that’s all it would take for me to be happy, a little bit of disposable income.
