I am currently using stoic. — day 440, so it seems it is over a year now.
I started using it because when I was like 14-17 I remember doing something like that in notebooks, writing down some ideas, sometimes dreams and whatnot. Later I lost them somehow and lately was wondering what would be there if I would ever find them…
There is this neat feature in stoic that shows you under the latest note what you wrote one month ago. There is much more to this app, but it is mostly a journal for me.
They are both filled with very ill informed people. I guess that’s all of the Internet though. People who have no clue are the first to give their opinions. The topics that are started by “low information voters” are often most popular with other low information voters.
What I heard is for a good while YouTube still had the numbers on the backend of the website, just hidden, and the extension allowed you to continue seeing it, and continue disliking videos.
However they were planning on eventually removing the functionality althoghther instead of it just being invisible to users.
So assuming that’s what’s happened, then I’m pretty sure it’s gone permanently now.
No, return dislike used their own algorithm based off whether users of return disliked it and then compared that to the total views of the video to give a rough idea of the total number. YouTube gave them jack shit
Have you tried Apple’s included “News” app? I’m in the US, so I’m not sure how well it would work for you. But Apple generally doesn’t sell your data, although I’m sure they do analytics for internal use.
I use that, Ground News, and daily digest emails from my local city newspaper and the indie neighborhood news site.
I might try Apple News, but I’m afraid of a possible bias. Ground News on the other hand seems to provide many sources for one subject and I’m digging it for now
A less popular one that was surprisingly awesome was His House. Its a Netflix movie but you should be able to find it a few other places as well (🏴☠️). I really liked it. Unique, creepy, and pretty well made. Definitely recommend.
Bean for reading and commenting. It has only one issue and hopefully it will be fixed sooner or later. When someone responds to your comment and you tap to see it, you don’t always land on the right spot in the thread. If it’s a short thread, you’ll be fine, but in a long thread you just can’t find where the comment is. In those situations I use Voyager, Thunder or Liftoff. Once Bean fixes that issue, it’s going to be the perfect Lemmy client for me.
I go through cycles of activity and lurking, but generally interact more than I did on reddit.
The other side of this is Lemmy is the main social media platform I interact with (including lurking) period these days. For anything else I either don’t use it or my profile’s a ghost town.
