Work in Cinnamon on Wayland, Plasma 6, XFCE 4.20 for Wayland support, WINE on Wayland, The Fancy Hyprland-like effects coming to Qtile Wayland, basically everything Wayland.

I also run Arch and have this same problem. I dug in for a bit, but found nothing. :( Webcam works perfectly well in all other circumstances except Zoom.

Ubuntu 24.04!

noisypine, in Make a Linux App

I’m interested in new distributions, but it really needs to do something new. Different default packages with a handful of custom things on top of an existing distro just doesn’t cut it. Give me a NixOS, Puppy Linux, ReactOS(I know it’s not a distro) or something else unique. I’m tired of Debian/Ubuntu based distros, if I wanted Debian or Ubuntu, I would use them.

governorkeagan, in Make a Linux App

I’d been playing with the idea of building a Linux app. I used Post Haste on Windows to help me organise footage but haven’t found a substitute on Linux yet.

I am waiting for Plasma 6 too. Maybe it will ship with Fedora 40 🤔

I hope so

And I am looking forward to Ubuntu server 24.04

does anyone know if there is any work on like a portal/wayland extension or something to enable the ability for applications to get permission to create an always on top window on wayland.

ahal, in Firefox PiP doesn't stay on top in GNOME

This is a limitation of Wayland, aiui it’s not currently possible for apps to set this by default. You can right click and select always on top for now.

fernandu00, in recommendations for lightweight window managers for an old netbook

I have the exact same netbook and specs and I installed fedora lxde a couple months ago just to see how it would go and…it’s pretty decent performance if you use it just to browse the web or text editing… Installed vscodium and it got laggy as hell though … Had to use geany instead

rustydrd, in recommendations for lightweight window managers for an old netbook

Used to have an Eee PC running CrunchBang (Debian + Openbox). Really lightweight and simple (some potential for customization), and it was enough to carry me all the way through university.

inasaba, in Firefox PiP doesn't stay on top in GNOME

I usually right click the window in the app bar and choose the “stay on top” option. This issue only happens in Wayland, also. in X11 it stays on top as expected.
