MXX53, in What are people daily driving these days?

Had been on pop for a while. But lately gnome shell was using a ton of ram and performance was trash, so I moved to fedora with KDE. Been great so far.

lurch, in how can I customise my Ubuntu theme without breaking anything??

As long as you do not use root privileges (indicated by sudo or that password promt pkexec) you cannot destroy the system in a way that can’t be fixed by deleting a few files in the users home directory.

The answer’s always Debian. I use guix for packages, though it doesn’t have as much stuff on it as nix.

Shihab, in What are people daily driving these days?

Fedora is what keep getting back to every time I get distro hopping fever. Either gnome or KDE It’s wonderful!

Neon and Arch in a distrobox container. I’ve found the holy grail of Linux setups. Latest KDE and AUR on a stable ubuntu base.

Nobara on my gaming desktop, Fedora Kinoite on one laptop, Debian 12 on the other.

DarkThoughts, in Request for help, I broke some graphics

I get the same error when trying to update. What's the correct way to fix it?!

Shareni,

Don’t use “dnf update”, just “sudo nobara-sync”.

It’s not a problem because the update script automatically skips the other GPU packages. Uninstalling it would be an issue because some nobara packages depend on it.

DarkThoughts,

I used the commands OP provided, which is also what's been posted on the official page and it seemed to have worked without issues for me. At least in regards to me not having any graphical issues.

Kinda just ideological commitment. I sorta just started using Linux right off the bat, the only time I wasn’t a Linux user was way back when I was using the family Mac. Linux has gone quite far over the years, in quite a positive way.

If you’re planning on gaming, and you have an NVIDIA card, then I would like to recommend Bazzite. I’ve been using it for months, and I’m very happy with it. Have it installed to my Steam Deck as well as my PC.

lemmyvore, in Prevent display turning off when playing media

Try putting the browser on fullscreen, see if that keeps the screen alive while playing.
