I actually like Linux, but I’m considering just blocking all the Linux communities because it’s so incredibly boring to just see you guys circle jerking all day long. We get it. We all get it.
It’s 2023 and Apple is a trillion dollar company, and they still don’t have window snapping/tiling in OSX. I don’t have anything positive to say about their OS lol.
Catalyst doesn’t exist anymore, it was replaced by AMDGPU-PRO years ago.
The Radeon Mesa driver (radeonsi) is generally faster than AMDGPU-PRO OpenGL for gaming, and has been for years. On the Vulkan side, performance is usually fairly close between the Mesa driver (RADV), AMDVLK and AMDGPU-PRO.
AMDGPU is just the kernel driver, which is used by both the Mesa drivers and AMDGPU-PRO, so why is it listed separately?
For Intel, I think the hardware was holding it back more than the driver, especially since they’ve replaced the classic Mesa drivers with Gallium based ones. But now they’re doing the Arc stuff.
I don’t know if I would say that Nvidia proprietary runs well
People say why go the extra step just to disable ads and uninstall crap on windows 10, but never say why go extra extra step just to get that one windows software running on Linux oh and MacOS is fucking suck lol
People that are upset about electron should consider it’s not:
Electron App vs Wonderful Fully Supported Native Linux Application
The reality is that your choice is largely:
Electron App vs No App (maybe running their windows app in wine if you can get that to work)
It’s not like companies are going to go build a native linux app but electron got in their way. It was always electron or no support.
So if you like the app, remember that the ram and the cpu you paid for doesn’t provide value unless it’s doing something. There’s no trophy you get at the end of your life for “most cumulative ram left idle”
