Useless messenger

And no IPad version to
cupcakezealot, “best i can do is a chromium only web app”
Dfy, (edited ) Works in Firefox for me
NotSteve_, There are plenty of desktop wrappers available for the Web version. I don’t use WhatsApp often but from my experience it seems fairly similar to the Windows desktop app
spookedbyroaches, Main problem is that it doesn’t have voice and video calls there.
NotSteve_, Ah fair enough, I can see how that’d be an issue
jbk, Afaik they created a Windows client that’s native sort of recently and I’m pretty sure it’s a better experience than the web version because that’s one slow as hell to initially load for me.
Magrath, Whatsapp has always been behind the curve. Took them way too long to allow gifs.
h_a_r_u_k_i, I actually prefer that—a simple messenger without gifs and stickers, just plain text.
I’m not promoting WhatsApp in this case though. It’s one thing it’s done right, besides end-to-end encryption.
Rin, My MF smartwatch has WhatsApp but still no Linux version.
Johanno, Flatpak has WhatsApp for Linux.
n1ved, It’s just WhatsApp web as an app
FishFace, That’s exactly what a “desktop” client would be anyway: a crappy, memory hogging electron app.
n1ved, But WhatsApp have a really good app on windows which can attend calls and stuff . I think recently in Mac too . I’m using WhatsApp inside waydroid container in Linux so that I can at least attend calls
ILikeBoobies, But it spoofs the user agent as a Mac because WhatsApp blocks Linux on the web
jbk, Technically you could run an Android container on Linux like with Waydroid and get WhatsApp too, it’s just that there’ll probably be more Android users
clot27, telegram GOAT
mightyfoolish, Facebook couldn’t bother making a proper Android app for years. Now you want them to make Linux apps? The likelihood is small…
sederx, Stop using that shit
khannie, (edited ) web.whatsapp.com works really well
edit: It does not do voice or video but I’m OK switching to my phone for those
Jagermo, Use it in matrix? Or Element One?
Andrew15_5, You forgot about Matrix clients (and servers).
AlbyEvent, You can install an apps which basically display the WhatsApp webpage like an app, if you use flathub at least
