Don’t listen to them. The year is a write off. Take the opportunity to start drinking before 9am, binge eat, stop talking to family and friends and start calling in sick to experiment with drugs. You’ve got nothing left to lose

6 month grace period. By then it’s almost the end of the year so you get some slack as well.

That would explain having to “beware the ides of March”, which is mid-March. Sounds like they too had a 2 week grace period.

In New Orleans, new year’s day is Ash Wednesday. Nothing from Jan 1st until Valentine’s day counts this year!
