Nipplecreek, They can only increase it so much. The strike will continue but people tolerance of paying more and more won’t
shiveyarbles, I’m about to dump Hulu live and Netflix. They just keep jacking up prices
kessleragain, Yup. Got rid of Netflix a few months ago and got rid of Hulu live about a month ago.
Titan, Unsubscribed last summer. Their catalogue sucks
ampersandrew, They've got a fantastic catalogue. But I've seen those shows. They've only got a few things in the hopper on my radar, and I'll resubscribe when those come out.
toothpicks, I unsubscribed about a year back. Horrible company. Gonna try curiosity stream or nebula or something instead
dark_stang, How many more shows can they buy the rights for and then do one half-assed season of? Surely they’re running out of ip.
Patariki, Row row row your boat…
MagicShel, That fits perfectly with my plan to keep subscribing until the actors get a good contact and then drop Netflix.
TWeaK, This will keep going until they see a significant enough drop in subscribers. Apparently it’s working well for them.
Darkassassin07, Well, shiver me timbers; that be soundin unpleasant for folks…
TWeaK, Why play the game of sink or swim when you can sail?
mobyduck648, IP maximalists really screwed the pooch by inventing the term ‘piracy’ for copyright infringement, they made the act sound ten times cooler.
toothpicks, 😂
storksforlegs, May I stress that Canadians are a terrible testing ground. We are a beaten down nation of gougees, Americans and elsewhere might not be so placid about this. (Did American netflix already crack down on password sharing?)
BeMoreCareful, Americans bark, but we don’t bite capital’s hand.
Pons_Aelius, Why do I get the feeling that Netflix would be raising prices this year even if the writers and actors strikes had never happened.
This stinks of the suits using the strike as something to blame the price rise on.
WarmSoda, Exactly. They’re just using the strike as an excuse.
Pons_Aelius, Never let a good crisis go to waste.
toothpicks, Exactly. Fuck that behavior!
Safeguard, Perhaps, and this is very cynical of me, they are thinking, how can we make folks feel bad against the writers and actors?
- price hike and people pay for it: They blame the writers and actors for the price hike.
- price hike and people do not pay for it and leave, Netflix and people can blame the writers and actors as well. ("see!!! those demands are just not accepted by people!!! ")
It’s the only reason for the price hike I think.
ampersandrew, The more obvious reason to me is that they've got X subscribers, and they think they can make Y more dollars by raising prices for all of them.
Safeguard, I think Netflix would simply see that as a nice extra benefit. But the main reason is to “stick it” to the writers/actors. Without incurring the wrath of customers for the price hike themselves, they will just point their finger…
