Don’t know about Murena, but Disroot is a solid choice

Sorry, I misread your request.

linkwarden.app has hosting for 3$ per month.

Nope, Either host it or pay $3 Both are not possible to me.

butt_mountain_69420, in Raspberry Pi is now manufacturing 70,000 Pi 5s per week, will surge to 90,000 in February

But you can get a used thinkcentre tiny mini micro on ebay for $80. Wtf would I spend 100+ on a pi?

RagingRobot,

Yeah I am loving all these micro Linux computer options. Not much bigger than a raspberry pi but it’s a full computer. If you need gpio you can hook up an Arduino through USB and connect super easily. The one I have been using even has an integrated video card. All for around $100 and they are always in stock lol.

Thermal_shocked,

Yup. I use one for DNS / pihole / remote into network. Already tiny, easily replaceable parts and any OS. I do prefer the dells over Lenovo though.

HerrBeter,

Energy efficiency?

ShortN0te,

Most ppl do not bother to calculate that in(especially idle consumption) or living in an area where it basically does not matter.

But yes, no x86-64 device comes close.

Duamerthrax,

I was thinking more along the lines of battery powered operations. I can stick a Pi, a car battery, a solar panel into a weather proof box and set it in the woods if I needed to.

echodot,

Wouldn’t you just use a cheap lithium ion battery I’m not sure why you go for a lead acid.

Duamerthrax,

It’s just an example, but you can pull an old car battery from the junkyard and they have better temperature extremes. NiMH from a wrecked hybrid is also a good option for durability.

butt_mountain_69420,

You’ve got a point, but whatever you’re doing innawoods can probably be accomplished with a $40 pi, not a $100+ one.

can you link to one? i am interested

thank you. that’s a good deal.

I need a lot of good CM4’s. I hope they’re still ramping those up 😞

As web developer working in a company as consultant, I think often that I use a lot of free software like framework / library and tools to build proprietary applications without paying the free sofatware I use.

I feel sad about that, that our clients and my company do not want to pay ( with some exceptions ).

That’s a social problem.
Maybe some laws our just another culture about take care of our commons can change that.
We can still hope. :/

halm, in Any bookmarking solution?

Use Firefox with a Mozilla account, sync bookmarks between browsers.

Since you already rejected xbrowsersync, I’m guessing that’s not the answer you want but honestly, who needs a web client if you’re syncing right into your browser?

itsaj26744,
@itsaj26744@programming.dev avatar

Do shortcuts and addons sync between PC and Android.

halm,

This seems to be a different subject, or you’re just making up new criteria on the fly 😂

Firefox has finally opened up their larger add-on repo on Android. It seems to be slow going(?) but syncing extensions across desktop and mobile should eventually be possible.

Shortcuts — idk but probably not.

sloppy_diffuser,

Its also E2EE making it private. Its what I use.

cbarrick, in Any bookmarking solution?

What’s the difference in bookmark management versus read-it-later? Do you need compatibility with a specific browser?

Do low tech solutions work? Like passing a JSON or something around with rsync?

itsaj26744,
@itsaj26744@programming.dev avatar

A bookmark manager have a option to add links and search it later to go to link like Firefox Bookmarks. But,A read it later service take a link then grab page and add it to unreaded section then u read it it and it moves to readed section like wallabag.

spinningindaffodils, (edited ) in Any bookmarking solution?

Would raindrop.io be helpful? I use the free tier and they have a web app. They also have a lot of integrations to sync with other services but I’ve never used those.

itsaj26744,
@itsaj26744@programming.dev avatar

Looks like dropbox for bookmarks. Privacy policy is not good.

lemmyreader, in Murena vs disroot

Murena might be easiest and fastest to setup. Getting a new disroot account approved can take a lot of time, I think.

It is around same for bath. But that is not question. I have both I am asking which to use primirly

lemmyreader,

If you find privacy and security important I’d go for Disroot.

Feel free to try my SyncMarks. It’s available for any Desktop browser and can sync across all Browsers. The backend is working as Web GUI.

Backend: codeberg.org/Offerel/SyncMarks-Webapp

Browser Extension: codeberg.org/Offerel/SyncMarks-Extension

I don’t know what happens with manifest v3, because the Mozilla variant is not compatible to Chromium. Maybe I have to use 2 independent branches. But I try to avoid that. Manifest v3 is a big mess of bullsh*t.

But anyway feel free to try it. You are welcome.

I do not.

I self host it inside docker on my local network.
