Spooky

lugal, in A sobering thought!

Coincidence? I don’t think so

pineapplelover, in A sobering thought!

I need this on a shirt

Spzi, in A sobering thought!

The trick is to find a partner while you’re still alive. Screw those single persons!

AI generated images are getting more impressive.

Masimatutu,

Pretty sure Timo draws his own cartoons, what makes you believe it’s AI?

If you zoom into the shading and into the professor’s face, you’ll see that the lineart is all wonky.

edit: I checked out his blog, he also has ai generated cartoons there, and his non-ai generated cartoons are more clean and vector-y

Masimatutu, (edited )

Looks pretty human to me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: Damn, well spotted! That is very impressive, though.

LoamImprovement,

Also the shmutz on that student’s desk.

Taringano,

Wow these are pretty funny actually

Wilzax,

Is this that cel shading I’ve heard so much about?

troglodytis, in A sobering thought!

And that, my friends, is the joke

Every single person who does not confuse lives forever? Good.

keepcarrot, in A sobering thought!

Dang, it sucks that death somehow causes misunderstandings of empiricism

usernamesaredifficul, in A sobering thought!

that’s not even correlation

qaopjlll,

Agreed, the correlation between 2 random variables is undefined if one of the variables is actually a constant (the formula reduces to 0/0)

Squorlple, in Of course it was
@Squorlple@lemmy.world avatar

Not to be confused with Sir Isaac Newton’s dog, forgotten villain

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_(dog)

SomeAmateur,

Huh I wonder if that’s connected to Diamond Dogs in Metal Gear Solid V

Squorlple,
@Squorlple@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not very familiar with the franchise, but I did find this:

“Aside from the aforementioned meanings behind the name “Diamond Dogs,” it is also a reference to the David Bowie album of the same name, whose work has previously been referenced in other games in the series.”

The Bowie album title and the album’s group of characters by the same name are often believed to have been inspired by Newton’s dog, so MGS V is at least indirectly influenced by it.

SomeAmateur,

Cool thanks!

Professorozone, in Of course it was

Was having blood drawn and the phlebotomist, who was obviously Christian, was so happy to have found out that men actually had one less rib than women because, you know, Adam’s rib became Eve. I was not about to correct her as she had a needle in my arm at that moment.

lowleveldata, in Just ignore THAT part

They love to ask questions about terminal velocity tho

Just looked at the Wikipedia page. What is the reason for so many fucking scales?

PotatoesFall,

The purpose for this one is for scientists that normally use Fahrenheit. Those people don’t really exist though

TonyTonyChopper,
@TonyTonyChopper@mander.xyz avatar

they used to exist like 200 years ago

snugglesthefalse,

Different people deciding at different times that they need to measure temperature for something specific and then varying degrees of adoption.

derekabutton,

Well Kelvin makes some math much easier. Formulas look pretty if you don’t need to remove 213 a bunch of times.

snugglesthefalse,

Iirc it’s 273.15 but yeah, less maths.

Yeah that sums it up thanks

Quik,

Is there any research on which xkcds are cited most often?
