those psuedopupils are the coolest in my opinion. i had no idea about those.

Omniraptor, (edited )

I don’t think the pseudopupils are a feature of the eye distinct from any other part, it’s just what the individual facets look like viewed at a shallow angle.

edit: not that there aren’t bugs with different colored regions of their eyes. I’m not sure about the functionality of those tho, is it for vision or camouflage or looking good for the ladies or what. Will google

Chinchillas have vertical slit pupils despite being small herbivorous rodents. There are definitely quite a few exceptions.

Have y’all tried her diet? I don’t know if it’s backed by science or not, but you can eat just about anything on it. My buddy Joe tried it, it made Joe lean.

The upper left dot is pretty close to at least 4 rainforests…

emergencyfood,

Yes, the Seattle and Singapore dots are ‘close’ to rainforests. Probably Guangzhou as well.

FinalRemix,

They probably sent out thousands of requests and only heard back from those places. Let’s be honest: This’d be a great response rate, depending on the study.

I love the amount of praise in these comments. My dad is a geologist and used to always gush about the Appalachians when I was growing up

benjhm, in Roots of Mother Appalachia

I’m by the river Meuse in Wallonie, which still cuts through the Ardennes, another end of same old mountain range as the Appalachians, continuously eroding while mountains uplifted (just as Indus and Brahmaputra cut through Himalayas now), before the Atlantic ocean existed. Makes you think about time, pity schools don’t teach this stuff.

TheScaryDoor, in Roots of Mother Appalachia

The Rockies and most of the mountain ranges on the west coast were formed from the erosion of the Appalachian mountains!

What?

TheScaryDoor,

www.uh.edu/nsm/…/0723-geologic-history.php

Basically sediment from the Appalachian region was deposited by ancient rivers and wind currents, with this sediment later being uplifted and then eroded to form the Rockies.
