Delphiantares, in I want to get started with *arr apps - here are all the things I don't understand about (reverse-/)proxies and networking in order to get it set up.

If you get a reverse proxy setup all you need is port 80 and 443 and configure it it’ll expose the services that you want to be exposed through the subdomain Personally I’ve got Traefik service sitting on my media server and anything I want to expose goes through it .it has the details for the connection to cloudflare and so long as I direct it properly both on the container side and Traefik it’ll run as expected. The idea is if you go to say jellyfin.example.com cloudflare will direct that at at your reverse proxy(nginx in this case) which then redirects to the right machine/container because you entered from “jellyfin” .

The VPN gluten it is another container that will have the login details to your provider .

I’m still working my way through the self hosted rabbit hole myself, however I used a combination of Google and thishttps://www.smarthomebeginner.com/traefik-docker-compose-guide-2022/The entire site not just the specific article linked . As well as https://trash-guides.info/

funkless_eck,

Traefik

I will look into this, thank you.

Consider power line adapters instead of wifi.

I think Shellhub might do the trick

  • create users on the LDAP directory server
  • setup all services/applications to authenticate users aginst the LDAP server

If you can get a hold on a 3D printer, you can try this design: Raspberry Pi 4 NAS with 2x 3.5" bays / impulse1delta / printables.com

khorak, in Proxmox HA, Docker Swarm, Kubrenetes, or what?

Wifi pretty much excludes k*s and I assume that swarm and Nomad would be impacted by blips in the wireless connectivity. You can try how things work out with a load balancer / reverse proxy on a wired connection, which then checks the downstream services and routes the request to available instances.

Please look into Wifi-specific issues related to the various orchestration platforms before deciding to try one out. Hypervisor is usually a win win, until you try to do failover.

fart_pickle, in Raspberry as NAS, multiple HDDs and an enclosure

I’m using terramaster as hdd enclosure. I have two of those, both connected to lenovo thinkcentre. I’ve tried rpi but I needed more power hence the lenovo thingy.

What’s a MDM?

Flying_Hellfish,

Mobile Device Manager, used for protecting/locking down devices.

BearOfaTime,

I’d say locking it down is a feature of being managed, not necessarily what it does.

When managing devices, you can enable users to have as much control as you’d like.

It’s more about being able to manage devices from a single place, similar to what business does with workstations and servers (e.g. MS SCOM.

Plenty of users still have admin rights even with SCOM being used. It still really helps from a support perspective.

redcalcium, in SSO with automatic user creation

I use user_oidc on one of my nextcloud instance. It has auto provisioning support, which will create nextcloud user on first login.

4 Mbit upload seems really slow by today’s standards.

Anyway you might want to have a look at peertube. Its designed to be public and federated but you may be able to disable federation.

Another option is Jellyfin but its geared toward movies and TV shows.

corroded,

4 Mbit is exceptionally slow by today’s standards; when I signed up for internet access (there’s only one provider available where I live), I told them “I will pay for whatever the fastest connection is that you can offer.” Turns out that’s just single-channel DSL. They won’t even install bonded DSL where I live, and believe me, I’ve tried. I do have Starlink as well, but because of the land around me, it’s always going to be obstructed by the land topology; when I calculated how high I would need to raise my antenna to avoid obstructions, it was several hundred feet. My pfSense box does a good job of routing traffic between my DSL connection and my Starlink connetion (and falling back when Starlink is obstructed), but for hosting anything, I need a stable connection. That leaves me with just my DSL connection.

Tabby and xpipe is what I moved to after I was locked out of my Termius account. Tabby is what I use mostly now, there is a server you can run that lets you sync your profiles.

yunohost; setup modules, are custom modules (there is a program made to do so from source files; infact theres even a yunohost module of some form for that (and even if that was only a template; any programming & related module (including anything from basic ide to full on llm assists; are even just a fullon system like turbopilot; in a vm module), can be used to make a module for that if needed; im certain vm modules & thus yunohost and modules for it can be stacked, and also general preexisting programming modules can be repurposed for (if those and pre-repurposed versions dont exist already) doing so already; if not in setup then inside said module & then that current modules in current configuration, can be exported & keep such config, so varients can be made; same for the entire yunohost system)

Personally I just use a web directory for my roms Company/Console/Game and search with ctrl and F. I can download it from a browser or wget in the terminal.

For artwork I have the steam ROM manager on deck or the emulator on desktop usually does it eg ppsspp
