I think every Star Wars fan should feel comfortable and empowered to create whether head cannon they want for this rich universe. Don’t let other people or corporations dictate what exists or has value. It’s ok to like and dislike different things and the same things.
Comic adaptations of films are interesting. They quite often used to contain scenes that didn’t make the final film because the were usually based on earlier scripts with a selection of photos so they actually knew what they were drawing.
The Marvel adaptation of Star Wars has a unique version of Jabba in docking bay 94 because no one knew what he was going to look like.
Finally, if you want to see a poor comic adaptation, check out the one for Terminator 2, looks like it was drawn during a lunch break!
I thought that at first too! Then I went and actually looked at an AT-PT again. Aside from the vague shape of the vision slit area/cockpit windows, the AT-PT doesn’t really take anything from this concept. That thing is a refrigerator on legs. The concept AT-ST really looks elegant and graceful.
Yes, that’s exactly it, right down to how the feet socket into the legs. I haven’t kept up deeply with Disney produced canon. This looks like it showed up in the Rebels cartoon a few times? I know that show has used other old concept art and reintroduced it.
