Is it possible to stop the screen from rotating on the Kbin app when my phone rotates? I have my phone settings so it shouldn't rotate from vertical to horizontal but for some reason only the app does it, anyone know if this can be turned off?
More info: I’ve tried a few methods, including devices out of reach with no light, and breathing techniques. Breathing seems to be closest but I seem to have a hard time getting to a point where my breaths really slow down and relax.
@lortikins I need to find and get my e reader back up and going. I’ve tried to read on my on my phone but I guess I might as well be watching TV or a laptop at that point. I used to listen to 99designs… such a soothing podcast voice. Good tips. Thanks!
@numbscroll I've heard meditating works for some, when I cant sleep I invent a story in my head and just roll with it until eventually I drift off. Sounds dumb, but if I don't know when exactly I fell asleep, I won't be as tired in the morning (ie if I know I didnt sleep until 12 am, I'll be dead in the morning; if I followed whatever dumb story I invented in my head for hours and hours but don't know how late it was when I conked out, for whatever reason I'm not tired). Ymmv on that last bit though, lol.
The bill is H.R. 6570, the Protect Liberty and End Warrantless Surveillance Act, sponsored by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ). It has a lot of similarities to the bipartisan Government Surveillance Reform Act (where Wyden and Sen. Mike Lee are the Senate sponsors). But there are other bills potentially moving forward as well.... (1/3)
Ich habe gestern mit den neuen GPTs von OpenAI rumgespielt und mir letztendlich für meine aktuellen Projekte drei tatsächlich hilfreiche Chatbots erstellt.
Say hello to "Linux Server Admin Assistant", "Bricks Builder Assistant" und "Kirby CMS Advisor". Derzeit frei verfügbar für alle, die es brauchen und ein Abo für ChatGPT abgeschlossen haben.

Trying to identify a component on a pool control board.
It's related to the T-Cell functionality of the board, since everything else like sensing, timing, and whatever else works on the board.
Component got water on it, most likely when a not uncommon occurrence of water jetting out from the filter and splashing onto the board eventually got where it shouldn't.
Yeah, that’s exactly it. It’s an open source alternative to Instagram based on ActivityPub, like Mastodon and Lemmy. In terms of functionality I think it’s better than Instagram. There are no ads or sinister algorithms; I can select and copy text; I can easily reshare posts I like; and I can include working hyperlinks in my posts and replies.
The main benefits to running your own instance are that you don’t have to rely on anyone else to keep the site running and you can decide for yourself about federating or not with other instances. For me it’s also just a fun little DIY project to set up and maintain my own server.
why do threads that reference articles on outside sites redirect to kbin and not the outside site? (for example, worldnews often shows the external news site, but clicking the link takes you to a kbin.social post showing all the threads referencing that news site, not the actual site and story itself)
Reddit admins appear to be removing links to Lemmy instances posted in comments.I'm seeing quite a few "[Removed by Reddit]" comments in /r/RedditAlternatives this evening. Anybody else seeing their comments being manipulated by Reddit staff today?
@Chozo Huffman is really taking all the cues from his hero Musk. Halving the valuation, alienating loyal developers and a core set of users and stifling freedom of information on the internet.
I decided to edit all of my comments to say that I left Reddit in protest and provide a link to the Fediverse. If I leave the comments up when I delete my account, can Reddit edit them back to what they originally were? Should I just delete them?
@sanctuary_sanctuary Yes.. looking at the past history of Reddit actions. Reddit is constantly restoring threads and comments. Even deleted ones. Which is against various privacy protection acts.
‘wait, Reddit has avatars?’ - said swathes of users who discovered Reddit added useless features to their site making reddit.com look like absolute shit compared to old.reddit
Trying to migrate to kbin, but have several small questions after using it for some minutes now.
Can anyone please expain how to ask simple questions within this magazine, like:
How can I ask questions here without posting a new link, photo, article or video?
Questions like:
How can I add magazines to my favourites?
How can I search a specific magazine (like RedditMigration for those quesions I have...)?
Finally:
Is there a more extensive user guide than kbin's user guide on Github?
All of the options in + except making a new magazine is creating a thread. The "Add new article" is equal to making a text thread.
You should be able to find some useful guides or info if you click "top" on the homepage, or go to /m/kbinMeta and click top to find some useful guides. Out of those this one should be a pretty helpful start.
What exactly are Reputation Points and how are they calculated? I've got mostly upvoted comments and a few boosts but I'm sitting at -3 and I'd like to know how it works and what it means.
Is there a kbin Android app yet? I know the web app works, which is what I'm using now, but would really like a native app. I'm assuming these are being worked on and just need time to bake!
