Pretty much the title. I’ve been watching more realistic super hero shows like The Boys and Invincible. The reoccurring themes is that with great power comes great immorality....
Those kind of darker ‘realistic’ shows have a very cynical view of human nature where people are inherently bad and the social contract is what keeps us at bay from becoming monsters. I dont agree with that assessment (though I did as an edgy teenager)
The rich and powerful act the was they do not because they can but because they have nothing to strive for. IMO people require a certain amount of conflict and struggle in order to truly attain happiness and a fulfilling life. You also need to learn new skills to have fresh experiences. See this excellent documentary on the mouse utopia experiments.
You cant really appreciate success until you’ve failed miserably and earned it through blood sweat and tears. If you live your whole life being too rich to fail, and get everything you’ve ever wanted without having to work and struggle for it, then you eventually run out of things to want and life becomes hollow. Food looses its taste, drugs no longer get you high, regular and even kinky sex looses its appeal, luxury and convinence becomes meaningless as does social status. The only thing left is the thrill of depravity.
Time powers wouldn’t make a normal person with proper life goals and average moral values instantly go off the deep end. Only people who think money and power buys happiness.
Well, certainly not everyone agrees that people should be entitled to an opinion here, because we have science on that shit. And science tells us that nature is messy.
Whether we’re talking about psychological gender or biological sex, proclaiming that there’s only two categories is provably false. It’s like proclaiming that all colors are either orange or blue.
I guess, you’re allowed to be wrong. Hell, you’re even allowed to be wrong publicly. But if you are, you’re not entitled to not being corrected.
Most things are done in averages when you’re talking about a large population so the average doses between sexes are different that was the first part the second part is the averages of physical differences between sexes, so my bad I it seem like I was putting the two together. And my overall point is that it’s not I was born a male and feel/mentally that I’m female or vice versa, it’s morphed into I am what I claim to be regardless of these averages and differences between the two sexes, don’t question me, which can lead to adverse effects when it comes to your dosage in medication’s, and the differences in weight classes and bone and muscle density.
So, you’re saying they don’t have different trial runs for medication for the two sexes based on its type and what it’s for? Also, that medication doesn’t and cannot have different effects on the two sexes based on the type of medication? Bring up points about something doesn’t make you against or for a group of people. Also, other countries that bet American to gender affirming care stopped it and made laws against it because of the possible side effects, such as the Finland, Sweden, France, Norway, and the U.K.
Spiteful comedy feels good as long as it punches up. Not necessarily funny, but schadenfreude, cathartic, or just relief seeing them ‘get taken down a peg.’ It invites controversy when the artist and the audience disagree on the power structure. Chappellle falls apart around transgender, because he thinks he’s punching up to that group, where I imagine most people believe that trans are close to the bottom of the oppression spectrum. Chappelle’s argument basically being something like, “Well, they can ‘pass’ if they just match gender presentation to biological sex, and a lot of them are white.,” but having to hide your membership in a group is the opposite of power.
Weirdly enough, I just learned in my Developmental Psychology class recently that there’s a very surprising amount of sex between old people going on in nursing homes. Some of the students who’d actually worked in nursing homes before even confirmed it. So the trope may not be as unfounded as we might think.
Not saying old people hitting on kids is okay. It’s freaking weird and gross. Just stating an interesting fact.
While I think the world is enriched by people who get joy from their partners having crazy sex with others, cuckoo birds are a menace to all of aviankind, to the point that they other birds will hue and cry to chase them out of dodge.
Richard M. Stallman. Origin of the whole idea of “Free Software,” founder of the Free Software Foundation and GNU Project, guy who said some of Epstein’s sex trafficking victims probably enjoyed it.
Oh, and ESR is Eric Raymond, cofounder of the Open Source Initiative and rabid Libertarian.
Since a lot of women have started to call their female friends “girlfriends”, I have to wonder how women with actual girlfriends have been dealing with this lol
"Started?" Here in Tennessee we never stopped calling each other girlfriend.
But as others said, "Partner." I use it to talk about my boyfriend (since I'm a well-known demi person locally and the sex of whoever I'm with can be a massive question mark.)
By commercialism, I’m aiming at a mix of spending a lot and sifting through bloated business models (e.g. this or that accessory/equipment, microtransactions, etc.). Feel like many can relate to this sort of commercial fatigue, and yet it creeps even into hobbies where one tries to unwind....
I do gardening (easier for me than most as a landowner, but there are also community gardens where I live), make my own bread, cooking, and yes, walking.
Birdwatching is good and doesn’t require buying much.
My kids lately have been into puzzles and karaoke.
There’s a lot of fitness stuff you can do without buying stuff. Yoga, bodyweight exercises, even the partner acrobatics are fun and certainly a challenge.
Sex, lol. Not a hobby per se, but so good for a relationship and a great activity to do together.
I think you’re missing the point of the -porn suffix. Its not supposed to convey “the study of” or “images of”. Its meant to convey that viewing it is satisfying in some primitive/emotional/aesthetic way. NaturePorn isn’t just “pictures of nature”, it’s “pictures of nature that suck me in and make me want to see more”. In that regard, the comparison to sex is intentional.
Sounds like a bunch of drama for sex. I would rather have 1 partner who fulfills all my needs as I fullfil hers, instead of trying to just meet my sex drive.
It can be fun in small doses except when it wants you to watch a bunch of cutscenes instead of doing stuff. The biggest drawback is just the length of the game. If you played 5 hours per week it might take upwards of half a year to finish a playthrough.
That being said, it’s probably one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played and the best D&D computer game I’ve ever played. I’m fifty so that encompasses a lot of games. The range of morality and meaningful choices is extremely high. To the point where I want to experience making different choices but it’s hard because it’s such a time commitment to do a whole playthrough just to see what unique dialog options you get for playing a Tiefling or a Druid.
The romances and dialogs can be a little spicy, and it runs the gamut of adult language. I think nudity can be turned off and romance is optional, but you’d have to judge whether that would be a problem for their family. Even the full on sex scenes imply more than they show, but I’d be uncomfortable if I was surprised by one while playing with my kid. This is definitely a judgment call on your part.
It’s a great game and I wouldn’t want to discourage anyone from buying/playing it, but I’d be remiss to not mention some of the reasons it might not be for everyone. I’m hopeful it might lead to introducing my kids to tabletop play. But I’m not overly concerned with language or adult themes in an appropriate context.
It’s about time. He’s been implicated in utilizing underage female brainwashed sex slaves. See this book for starters.
This review sums it up best:
The premise is that high-level government and corporate officers wishing to procure the services of prostitutes cannot do so without risk of blackmail or spies (witness Eliot Spitzer). To provide these executives with the sexual services they desire, an exclusive black market of “secure” sex workers has evolved. Security is ensured by recruiting very young girls into a rigorous, years-long program of grooming to ensure loyalty and discression. The training includes intimidation and destruction of the victim’s self-esteem through shocking acts of physical and sexual abuse. In a side note that unfortunately won’t surprise many of us, Taylor also describes her participation in child beauty pagents, like the ones made infamous by Jon Benet Ramsey, and explains the function of these pagents in the sex trade. As in underdeveloped nations, there appear to be American parents out there willing to sell their daughters into such a life. Taylor claims she was sold in this manner, and subsequently spent almost twenty years in the service of various elites.
Sorting it out:
That’s a lot of very alien information to take in all at once. It isn’t parody, but is it true? Maybe Ms Taylor is lying. Or maybe she’s mentally ill. Maybe these stories are part of some counterintellegence program (COINTELPRO), spreading exaggerated and untrue information to discredit these ideas (to make all of this look ridiculous), but in the process hiding or covering up a lone kernel of truth. …Or there is an outside chance that most, or maybe even all of this book occured exactly as stated.
If the contents are not true, I would be interested in knowing why the author has not been sued for libel by her parents, the Rockefeller family, Henry Kissinger, Bob Hope’s estate, or Niel Diamond. It doesn’t prove anything that she hasn’t been sued, but it does seem odd. Ms Taylor’s allegations of blatently criminal activity are very specific about the times, the activities, and the persons involved. The book has been in print for over ten years now, so there has certainly been enough time to assemble a lawsuit.
Honestly, I 'm not sure what to believe, but I’m not satisfied just passing it off like a big joke; I wouldn’t put anything past Kissinger or the Rockefellers.
