Yeah once you get used to that… It’s impossible to go back. :) It also keeps everything updated automatically.

I know and people complain about the Linux community asking people to try Linux. We do it because it’s awesome.

That’s really cool. You should try Pop OS as soon as possible on it. :)

But Linux Mint Cinnamon is also very good. Everything is simple and not filled with commercial messages and ads. Graphics is cute and nice.

Windows will keep getting more and more intrusive so you may as well be early in switching so you can help others later.

Things are more interesting in the Linux world. Plasma is just a user interface, a desktop environment. The actual operating system is Linux. And we have so many choices for how we want our desktop environment on Linux, but Plasma is the most advanced one.

Have you tried another distro like Pop OS?

You are right, they aren’t open all the time except in screenshots. :)

Questions like these is why this community exists though.

It’s interesting to read because I’m always quick in the car myself, I enjoy being quick to start and drive out.

Don’t care if others are different. Maybe they want to sit and watch their phone for a while. But it’s interesting to read about it.

They altered the deal.

It was a good deal a few years back, so piracy decreased a lot, and streaming company profits grew a lot. Everyone was happy.

But then they altered the deal. It’s no longer worth the money, and any movie or TV show they have can disappear at any time. They also decided to start flirting with ads, so they burned a lot of trust by doing that.

It’s hard finding something worth watching. Once you have seen the few good shows at one streaming company, the rest is so awful nobody wants to touch it. So the subscriber is supposed to sign up to many streaming companies… Costing them tons of money.

If streaming companies were smart, they would work together and create one streaming service with all existing movies and TV shows, and set a fair price, and depending on what movies or TV shows people choose to watch, the profits go to whatever company makes the best content.

But working together is not what you do in capitalism…

Ways to pirate music as convenient as Spotify?

The reason I gave up on MP3’s and subscribed to Spotify was because Spotify was easy. I’ve been listening “Iron Maiden - Empire of the Clouds” song every day and like a week ago, its removed. This was the last straw for me. Right now I’m trying to find “Stremio” of the music world. Can someone assist?...

Use deezer. I’ve been on them for many years and it’s just like Spotify without the social media shit.

www.deezer.com

Good looking apps etc. It’s also French so no bullshit around privacy.

This is not piracy though but it’s such a good service that I’m paying for it.

Haha so true, and I say this as a Linux user for like 20 years. There are some Linux users who value functionality over form so much that they prefer cluttered user interfaces with tiny borders to maximize screen space.

I remember in 1995-ish or something when I used the internet for the first time using the Netscape browser… And I was asking a friend if he had tried all the web sites yet. Just got a weird look back… :) I didn’t know what the internet was back then at first.

musconv.com/does-deezer-pay-better-than-spotify/

Deezer pays slightly more but Spotify has more users, so it seems to be about the same.

I like deezer and I like that they are not part of big tech. It’s just a small French company with a quality product as an alternative to Spotify, which is in bed with Google and everyone else.

Well worth the money.

Sync is the absolute best app but I think privacy is probably not great.

But this is Lemmy so you don’t even need to use an email address if you don’t want. You can be semi anonymous and change username often if you want, and change between apps or instances also.

Data is never gone but it’s also not tied to anything real about you.

It’s a fantastic show still, very funny. :)

Wait until you realize 99% of people are transphobes and just don’t tell you because it’s not allowed.

That happens when you ban opinions. :)

I asked my Sambo to watch it, she was also confused and turned it off… Nothing made sense. :)

I lost interest in it after 10 minutes. Really boring plot and bad actors…

@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Yeah they didn’t built up the characters at all, and I didn’t care about any of them…

They could have done so much more with this idea of Ai and robots in the future, but it seemed really shallow.

Gnome looks better but kde is more functional… I can even run Jetbrains apps in kde without them being blurred in 4k 144hz, but gnome can’t.

They want to and it’s coming in the future.
