Fair and balanced in the same way as Fox News. :)

Absolutely awful shit and I would be ashamed for decades if I acted like this to another person.

Really shows the worst of him here. It’s rare that he becomes this toxic and humiliating.

Usually not more then 30 before I close most of them with “Close all tabs to the right”.

I have browsing history so don’t need tabs.

Reality shows have people I never want to meet, mostly.

Hmm I haven’t heard that Nvidia works better than Amd ever actually.

Amd drivers are included on the kernel so it will just work on all distributions. So I would give it a shot, don’t think you will have any problems. :)

Pop OS is the best to start with, it’s awesome.

You can in the latest version of Lemmy that came out just a few days ago and is still not installed on most instances.

@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Yeah I went through subs and cancelled all of them like six months ago, feels fantastic and very freeing.

Wouldn’t it also mean a thousand Musks and Trumps?

Or probably millions of them since they are not very smart at all, just attention seeking man childs.

I’m not installing this… Scary. Will wait for 6.6.7 in a few days. :)

Oppenheimer was really boring but so was Barbie.

Both were shit, but highly rated.

Alright, I'm gonna "take one for the team" -- what is with the "downvote-happy" users lately?

Title. “lmao internet points” and all, but what is the point of participating in a community that sees assumptions and other commonly non-harmful commentaries/posts as “bad” this easily? Do folks in here are really that needy of self-validation, even if it means seeking such from something completely insignificant like...

I just post what is true to me. Let people downvote. But yeah, lots of downvotes sometimes because some topics are just “we must all agree or else”.

Large instances are like reddit now, yes.

Yes it’s going to transform everything. It’s about the same as the transformation from typewriter to computer for society. But I still don’t think any machine that predicts the next word is intelligent. However, this is only the beginning. We are not going to be able to keep up with AI soon, and it will work around the clock to get better and better.

We will have those high tech societies from the movies where robots are everywhere and people are quite sad.

Looking ahead, Hohndel said, we must talk about "artificial intelligence large language models (LLM). I typically say artificial intelligence is autocorrect on steroids. Because all a large language model does is it predicts what’s the most likely next word that you’re going to use, and then it extrapolates from there, so not really very intelligent, but obviously, the impact that it has on our lives and the reality we live in is significant.

Exactly.

It’s not intelligent because it’s not thinking.

At least my definition of intelligence is thinking. Otherwise a simple pattern matching algorithm like a regexp is also intelligent, or a sorting algorithm that puts things in the right order.

But I agree it’s very efficient and has more data than any single person ever could. It’s a computer, they are great at storing and processing information.

There is already a package for this in arch AUR you can install:

aur.archlinux.org/…/mutter-dynamic-buffering

I used to install this (it replaces mutter) but didn’t notice any difference in my system.

I think it makes a big difference on some systems though, since I saw other people absolutely love it.

Wayland-Proxy Load Balancer Helping Firefox Cope With Wayland Issues (www.phoronix.com)

Among the Firefox Wayland bugs, one of the top crash bugs is over a lost connection to a Wayland compositor. For dealing with it is to have a proxy between Firefox and the Wayland compositor to cache messages and prevent compositor message queue overflows.

Is this on Fedora? My girlfriend has lots of similar issues on Fedora that disappeared on pop os.

Yeah but those were called children programs back then. Now its called mainstream television.

Some people don’t know what they want. :)

Yeah dot files are config files, and usually apps have one. And yes, you would have to explore each program to see what the settings do.

You picked Debian now, just be aware that all software is very old and when you read docs for programs, you probably have to read about older versions instead of the current one.

There is always more information. Error 2 just means the make script couldn’t finish I think. Scroll up :)

With Lemmy 0.19, users can choose to block threads on their own.

That way the instance owners doesn’t have to decide for everyone.

It is, it says so on the web page. You don’t have to register for that… What’s going on, you can’t see it?

5 GB free tier, and 10 dollars for 1 TB.
