We’ve got the culture and to put it simply a place to go to. The barrier for new entry is just that we are all, put simply, nerds with our communities focused around that. The fediverse’s main problem overall is honestly just that the majority of the population are corporatists whether they know it or not.
Only time I ever saw a brick as a kid was when one came through the window of the trailer, had a note on it that read ‘cut yo grass’. That’s how they do it in the mobile homeowners association. Credit to a comedian by the name of Dusty Slay since that isn’t my joke.
I’ve certainly been trying to get people into the fediverse and off the corporate side of things but yeah, I’m currently sitting at 0 conversions. It’s made for some fun conversations though.
I’ve never really gotten the controversy on this one, the only real difference is dogs are the only primarily carnivorous mammal we as a species eat in any volume. Otherwise the problem appears to be mostly emotional, like I have a furball and I’d never eat him but I don’t have an emotional connection with the beef marinating in the fridge.
