As a non native speaker: what the fuck

nifty,
@nifty@lemmy.world avatar

What nation would speak this? NoCapistan?

FeelzGoodMan420,

Why did you get downvoted for a perfectly legitimate joke that was directly related to the subject matter? This fucking community man…

Decoy321,

Relax, homeboy. It’s just one downvote.

Anyolduser,

As a native speaker I think you and I understood the same number of words.

moog,

The broccoli hair is what does it for me

citrusface,

It’s called the “meet me at McDonald’s” haircut

Thcdenton,
itsgroundhogdayagain,

I know some of those words

LostWon,

I’m Gen X and not a fan of chat abbreviations but I was mostly just lost on “bussin’” (so I looked it up on Urban Dictionary). Not sure if “I vibe it” is like a form of “vibing” or more like “I’m feeling it” (or something else) though.

JimboDHimbo,

I’m over 30 and can still read this, but I have an advantage since most of the terms originated in AAVE (excluding baka; I can thank being a teenaged weeb for that). I’m guessing gen x and any of the boomers left alive would be having translation issues.

Maalus,

Well, joke’s on you, since it’s “sussy baka”, not a regular “baka”

Death_Equity,

Same boat but baka alluded me, despite enjoying mainstream anime. I could not make the connection with the rest of the zoomer jive.

Hikermick, (edited )

Lost me at bussin’. What’s he got against public transportation?

CaptainSpaceman,

Baka is the only part im stumped on

jesterkun,

It’s Japanese for idiot

CaptainSpaceman,

Oh damn, I actually knew that I just thought it was urban slang not a foreign word lol

Thanks fam, fr fr no cap

Bye,

Translate to gen x / millennial please

21Cabbage,

Same line as the movie just translated to Instagram speak

Kit, (edited )

Ah you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it.

A more literal translation would be “Wait, you think darkness is really cool? You actually just leaned into (or stole) the darkness, you idiot. I’m serious. Not to brag, but I feel the darkness strongly, no lie.”

I guess I’m officially middle aged now, because I have no idea what is happening in this picture but it’s still somehow making me irrationally angry

It says:

I just had a realization that you believed darkness to be a good thing.

You seriously took in the darkness. This was a questionable and idiotic decision.

I do not mean to brag but in all seriousness I completely relate to the darkness.

I am amazed.

I do not think it makes any sense even if you understand the slang.

terminhell,

I think, I may have suffered a stroke.
