Last time, I used: “Anybody need anything while I’m out?” and that went over well. May not make it through this surgery on Friday, so I turn to Lemmy for top-notch suggestions for my potential last words!
That’s such a… foreign mindset to me. I can’t fathom being okay with having the door open and having other people just walking by. Hell, I close it when I’m the only one home.
Why the fuck does autocorrect randomly capitalize certain words? It’s so irritating. I’ve never had any issue with commas though, so I don’t know where that’s coming from.
Oh, I see. That makes total sense. Mobile keyboards have truly wrecked the general population’s ability to use proper grammar. One thing I’ve noticed a lot is that they also tend to insert unwanted apostrophes. For example, typing “its” always corrects to “it’s,” which is very frustrating.
I’m on SwiftKey too and switched from Gboard for similar reasons. The only reason I’m not running one of the open source ones is that typing with one hand is unbearable without being able to to swipe, and I use my phone in bed a fair bit.
I wish I had an autocorrect that just wouldn’t change anything if I put an actual word. I like autocorrect because it makes me type a lot faster when I don’t need to go back and fix as many mistakes.
You’re conflating ownership of the means of production with ownership of the fruits of one’s labor. The land itself can’t be owned, but things you have produced can be.
I’m GenZ and seeing this shit makes me feel like the boomiest of Boomers. I don’t want your goddamn motherfucking app, you can shove it where the sun don’t shine and take my order the old-fashioned way or not at all.
That is, unless I’m at home ordering delivery and using a centralized app. Having the same interface for every restaurant is so much fucking nicer than trying to figure out the weird quirks of every website or having to call them.
I tried to contact my doctor through the online portal and it wasn’t working because those systems have zero quality control. I called them and had to listen to a long-ass pre-recorded message urging me to use the portal that WASN’T FUCKING WORKING before I could go on hold to eventually talk to a person. It’s infuriating.
I have noticed that a lot of leftist memes are just walls of text. Right-wing memes tend to be concise and to the point, often only containing a few short words. They target very different demographics.
Edit: this was meant to roast the right for being simple-minded, but I worded it poorly.
That’s literally what I’m saying. People seem to have misinterpreted my tone. I was roasting the right, though the irony of being misunderstood here is not lost on me lol.
And then you never really figure it out because it fucks with your memory too, so you can never review all the amazing ideas you had after you’ve sobered up.
The issue with boycotting a huge company like Nestlé is that you put in a ton of time and effort while denying yourself lots of useful products and on Nestlé’s end, they lose out on less profit than they bring in in a single minute.
They made $9.7 billion Net income in 2022. That’s over $18,000 EVERY MINUTE. You can’t make a difference and they don’t care. The only ways to enact change are either through the legislative/regulatory route or through the extralegal route.
What's an amusing thing to say before going under general anesthesia?
