I’ve got a (faux) leather sofa (not sure how to tell difference). Sitting on it or moving around makes the leather rub together and squeak a LOT. It wouldn’t bother me but I live in an upstairs flat so I get paranoid if it’s late at night and I move on the sofa it’s “CREEESQUEEEEEEEUUUURRRR”....
It’s all over twitter lately, people getting recorded ripping down posters with a graphic about the missing Israeli children and then their real names are found and are quickly fired from their jobs.
Your framing is wrong. They know some people have preferences. They just don’t care because emojis drive engagement, which drives revenue for many of them.
Hello, could someone recommended a keyboard for android that is a bit smart in predictive typing? I used to like swiftkeybefore it was bought by microsoft. Not that swiftkey itself was much better but I was not so privy conscious at that time....
I’m in the same boat as OP (I have a device without root for the first time in a long time) and I miss both apps. I do use a pihole+VPN for what adaway does. But there’s no real replacement for AFWall/iptables without root. As pointed out, though, you can block individual apps in some modern versions of android. Fortunately, I have that.
I almost opted to move my parents to use Linux instead of Windows because of how much time I was spending on fixing the malware and viruses they’d get. Then enter Windows Defender.
Now all I have to deal with is when they get the occasional scam call… “Yes, it’s Bob from Microsoft, you need to wire us $900 to fix a virus.”
Homebrew recently broke for me permanently on a macbook because it was made in 2013 and is now blocked from upgrading, so xcode no longer can be upgraded…Which means lots of other shit also no longer works. Including homebrew. Soon have to put a distro on it, I guess.
Recently I’ve been catching up on tv and some of the more mature/adult shows, which I’ve been…Enjoying? Seems like the wrong word, but they’ve all generally been cynical or dark....

Many pirates will pay for newsgroup access. People also pay for hard drive space, power for servers, hardware, etc. Pirating doesn’t mean people are never paying for anything. That said, I won’t pay for subtitles. I’ll just wait til the community figures something else out.
Is it shallow, or petty, to decide based on name alone? Yeah, pretty much, but there’s probably something, a product or service or site, that the name has made you gloss right over it or jump to it ASAP....
yeah, I do still buy from Chinese companies sometimes, but only if they are smart enough to use a name that doesn’t sound like someone just used a random password generator and said “good enough”… or … whatever the Cantonese equivalent of “good enough” is, I suppose.
